Scarface was the first commercial rapper with a real conscience that dealt with demons from the aftermath of what everybody was talkin about, he was bringing the yin to yang. He was also the first to really bring the dope game to the mic as far as I know. 5 grand bout to dig in the archives and find somebody talkin that shit before I was born. But as far as I know, he's the first to really be on that shit(good girl gone bad). Scarface also brought death to the table like no other and still does. He's probably the first to deal with mental illness on the mic also.

My favorite rapper created the greatest southern anthem of all time...one that still gets play throughout every stadium in America.

Down 4 My Niggaz

Additionally, he was a key member of a label that pioneered the idea that you could make the maximum amount of money for your product.

C-motherfuckin-Murder.

How did he pioneer that idea

Nas took what others like Rakim, KRS-One, & Kool G Rap started & perfected the balance. Between the intricate rhyme schemes, vivid detail, fresh concepts & natrual flow. He influanced a whole new generation of MCs. Made it ok to go against the grain & detrimental to age gracefully lyrically.

Favourite rapper too hard for me to narrow doe so I have to do group....

The 2 dope boys in a Cadillac came through and put on for the A

They represented like non-other and at the 1995 Source Awards let it be known that the South got something to say. Leaning to the side full of southern pride, Benjamin Andre and Daddy Fat Sacks

"Talk bad about the A and I'll bust yo' fucking mouth"

No dr, But their contributions Boils down to a weird dressing black man with nice rap flow and big boi the generic southerner. I would say outkast contribution is Atlanta lyricism bc there were other lyricist from the south also

That wasn't even the best southern anthem on his label.

Illmatic alone does not mean much to hip hop it means a lot only to a certain era of nyc.

How you figure that?

Bc it's a small demographic that's illmatic actually registers with. There is not one song off illmatic that stays in constant rotation. They have old hip hop radio stations in a lot of states now and it's rare you will hear a track off illmatic. Illmatic along with the jayz beef along with if I ruled the world and belly equals a contribution.

I respect your opinion.

I'm from Louisiana and my uncle put me on Illmatic when I was like 7 and I didn't understand it at first because we don't have them big ass projects. ......but we all have that same struggle so we just felt that shit.

So you saying its not an overall contribution because you haven't herd a song on the radio in a while? Come on man. Even whack rappers somehow name Illmatic as an influence and not just in NY. Hell, not just on the East. It's a HIP HOP classic. That would be like saying Scarface's The Diary isnt a hip hop contribution cuz you don't hear songs on the raido and it represents just the early southern era. GTFOH

Illmatic is on so many media outlets and rappers greatest and influential lists that it's no real argument otherwise.
