We Are Young Money

I'm appalled every time someone says Jay z is anywhere close to being as relevant as Lil Wayne is today.
That nigga Jay did define this era as"fuck lyrical content J-cole" that shit don't matter it won't get you a hit, You not the chosen one you are how many albums you sell and how many hit records you make.

so why would wayne?

just cuz you don't like him?

Never said I didnt like him, I just dont really fucc with this new Wayne. However, I have all his older shit from the balla blockin era.

But I think they be doing that shit anyway, because Nicki Minaj went plat in a faster time frame than Drake had. And I was confused because Drake had 09 heavy, the whole years with no buzz and didnt go platinum in a month. But Nicki Minaj had two singles and went platinum in a month.

was watch the throne a def jam release? if so id be more willing to believe that they bought copies of the album before id believe that cash money bought copies of c4. i mean def jam does have a strong history of buying its own albums to boost sales for its image.

lol I'm not saying they don't matter. All I'm saying is to compare logically. And Drake's album didn't go plat in a week, much less gold. What makes you think a Wayne/Drake or Wayne/Drake/Nicki album would do it?

i am comparing logically, 2 big artists didn't out sell one big artist and they titled it watch the throne. lol

wayne just sold what he sold. if drake was on it would have sold the same if not more.

Thats true, but maybe more for an artist like Fab, if needed, or Ghostface Killa, who may nowadays put out a "by a thread" hot single, but an album not strong enough for heavy sales.

lol @ the flawed logic in this thread

niggas talkin about how collab albums should be compared to solo albums when everyone knows if this was a wayne/drake album it wouldn't even do gold

niggas hatin on jay so much they completely ignore the fact that kanye was part of the album and act like it's a straight jay album even tho everyone says it was like he was featured on it

niggas thinkin sales is the only indicator something is good

something can sell really good and be whack or something can sell really bad and be good

If they weren't trying to sell, they would've given the album away for free. And they made at least 2 music videos for it.

What's your point?

smh another old ass up north hatin ass nigga.... u can ride jays nuts all u want but the fact is at the end of the day ur probably old and u will never get back ur wonder years back or/and wayne would speak to u 12 years before jay would ever acknowledge ur existence while ur ridin and dyin for this nigga.... just ask all his 98% percent of the people that knew/know him (state prop, dehayven, jaz, dame, amil,biggs... the girl on 106 & park who he treated like she had aids) the list goes on

fact is the we are young money was a compilation album

WTT was a collab album in the same vain as Best Of Both Worlds....two Supestar Solo rappers coming together to work together on a full project....not just some random verses, followed by a tour....it was sold as something EPIC

it fell flat...Weezy King Baby sunk them niggas like torpedo submarine same way as Bey's album

Jay stans need to stop crying and come to terms with it, this is a young niggas game

I don't understand this thread. Kanye & Jay-Z are very popular artists, are we to believe that their combined popularity would somehow hinder their sales?

Anyway, Wayne has a lot of gold albums and maybe 4 platinum albums.

Guerrilla Warfare went 1 Plat
Block Is Hot went 1 Plat
Lights Out went Gold
500 Degreez went Gold
Carter I went Gold
Like Father Like Son went Gold
Carter II went 1 Plat (sold 2 million worldwide but still only 1 certified)
Carter III went 3 Plat
Rebirth went Gold
I Am Not A Human Being went Gold
Carter IV is yet to be determined but we all know that over a million units have been moved thus far

Out of his whole catalog he has maybe 1 classic album. No matter what the sales are, that's nothing to be proud of.

As far as Jay-Z is concerned. He made numbers a big deal with his very public award speech, now that it's being used against him people seem to be hurt. The same applies to 50 Cent as well.
