When people go pro in the NFL, NBA, MBL, etc, many people make the cut because teams have need to fill many spots.

But Track is different.

1. The sport is not as popular as the above three.

2. For the most part, there are no teams in professional Track and Field (expect when they join up to run relays, but that's kind of random, you could be running with someone in one meet, then running against them in the next meet)

3. This means the only pro track and field athletes that manage to make the news are the ones at the very top. The best of the best, fast of the fast, blah blah. (or was that get caught juicing)

4. There are a nice handful of NFL players that can probably run track professional, but they wont be faster than Gay, or Gatlin.

5. A lot of these T&F pros hold many collegiate records in track, and some of them were participating in college football at the same time. So the NFL'ers can't use the excuse that they were doing two sports.

As for the younger sprinters, here are a few notable names. Some of them are injured, others simply just didn't qualify, gay and gatilin may be getting old, but they still got it. The times they ran at the trials would have been good enough to medal at the olympics a couple olympics ago.

Xavier Carter - dumbass nigga. Think he might have been locked up.

Jamaica may clown this team in London. You know London has a lot of Jamaicans so it might get ugly this summer on the track for USA.

To put it bluntly, no one is touching Bolt unless he chokes. His records are untouchable, there has been no one in the history of Track and Field even close to him, aside from Tyson gay. If Gay is healthy and running at 100%, and Usain is not, he will lose. (I doubt he will lose though)

Yohan Blake is beatable by a healthy Tyson Gay (I still feel there is something not right about Yohan's time drop)

Asafa Powell is a known choke artist - years before Usain Bolt hit the scene, he was the one breaking all the records in the 100m, but he has never won a championship of any kind. Anyway, he is also beatable by a healthy Tyson Gay.

Only way gatlin can beat any of these niggas is if one of them chokes.

What do you mean by the bold? We have a ton of sprinters, but they only take 3.

As far as T&F as a whole, Jamaica is beastly in the 100m, the 200m, and of course the 4x100, but they are a bit lacking in other events, they aren't even deep in the 400m, or the 4x400, USA, still got that on lock.

I know right. It's not like training, equipment, and technique plays a part in this thing at all.

At best Chad Johnson would probably be a 10.0x sprinter, going by his 10.3 he ran in high school. (unless he was a late bloomer or something, which is usually not the case) Tyson Gay was an extremely late bloomer.

I don't know if Trindon Holiday made it into the NFL, but if he did he is probably the fastest player. He was an NCAA d1 champ, and dropped a 10.01 in the 100m. Edit:2: opps, he wasn't the champ, Walter Dix beat him in the final.

Sidenote: just to go along with the thread: A top tier Track and field athlete (record holders, and Olympic medalist) will probably make more than low tier NFL players.
