First off Imma tell yall I used to be a hardcore fan of MMA. Dating back to the days when Royce Gracie was armbarring niggas and the days when UFC got outlawed. All that shit. I was a HUGE fan back in the early 2000's during those UFC vs PRIDE days. I might not keep up with UFC as much these days but I know my shit.

With that said, I was expecting more out of the fighters than we're seeing today. UFC athletes are still low-tier scrubs. They aren't world class athletes.

1. Brock Lesnar, WWE entertainer dominated UFC HW division. I mean this nigga spent YEARS away from REAL training, goes to a gym for a few months, and comes in a dominates the best UFC had to offer. Brock Lesnar lost an NCAA wrestling match to Stephen Neal, Patriots offensive Lineman. When Lesnar tried out for the Vikings, he couldn't even make there PRACTICE SQUAD. And he's some sort of "athletic freak" to MMA fans. That says it all right there.

2. Bob Sapp, NFL flunky dominated K1, which is known to have better strikers than UFC. Again, not even an elite talent in the NFL or anywhere close to it. If Bob Sapp could do this, what do you think niggas like Ndomkong Suh or Haloti Ngata would do. Even Julius Peppers or a young Jevon Kearse. Give them 6 months of training and they would crush the best MMA/K1 have to offer.

3. Randy Couture, at 40+ years old was still UFC heavyweight Champion. C'mon now...... im not trying to take anything away from Randy. He's a good guy and a legit champ. But look at the bums he was fighting. No way in hell should any 40 year old ever be a champ in a combative sport. I mean this nigga was creepin into Viagra/Diaper-wearing age and still had the belt.

4. Chuck Liddell - unathletic overhyped drunken scrub was known as UFC's best for years. This dude wasnt even a B-level boxer and his stand up was 'feared' in the Octagon. He made a living off beating high school (HIGH SCHOOL!!, not even NCAA) wrestlers like Tito Ortiz.

5. Rampage Jackson - basically a brawler with a couple years of amatuer Wrestling skills. This guy would've been Roy Jones Jr punching bag if he stepped in a real gym. Give a prime RJJ a year of wrestling training and he would've shitted on anyone in MMA. You wanna know the reason why Boxers never stepped to MMA? Because Boxers can make 10 million... 15 million... 20 million a fight.. MMA Main Eventers are lucky to see 1 million. Not even 20% of what Main Event boxers like RJJ made.

Maybe I'll start watching UFC when real athletes become involved, but for now I'm utterly unimpressed. I've seen it all before, none of the shit surprises me now, the fighters and rivalries suck compared to yester-year.

Agree.

Which is why I laugh when people say that "no boxer" will ever dominate in the UFC.

Lol @ people still putting MMA/UFC and boxing in a comparitive conversation together like its even worth typing about.

Fuck UFC, fuck its fans and fuck its maker.

Worst thing I ever seen.

And more horrible are the stupid idiots who think its ok to put something as ancient and pure as boxing into such arguments.

If you wanna talk UFC just talk UFC.

Dont stain boxing by pitting it against such an inferior sport.

It's a comparison showing how inferior the athletes in MMA are.

Basically I'm saying......

Boxers - world class athletes
NFL players - world class athletes
MMA fighters - bums

and Im laughing at something I just thought about. GSP supposed to be this athletic freak in UFC, meanwhile his most common way of winning is laying on top of his opponent for 5 rounds. Basically dry humping. And that's the best athlete UFC got.

If ignorance is bliss, T/S must be in heaven.

Did you know Brock Lesnar was asked to play in the European Football league to develop but declined? If you don't think Brock Lesnar is a freak athlete you're basically retarded.

Rampage is a freak athlete too, he could have easily played DI football, and he has more tha "a couple years" of ametuer wrestling. You discredit yourself not even knowing that.

How many main event boxers are making 10-15 mil outside of Pac and Floyd?

I said boxing was a dieing sport, hardly see any heavyweight bouts anymore, thats why I said it. Too many weight classes, why not just have 3 or 4?

Boxing's not a dying sport.

It's very popular amongst many here in America and internationally.

It may not generate mainstream media attention outside of Mayweather or Pacquiao here in America, but it is far from dying.

The problem isn't the weight classes, its the alphabet organizations handing belts out.

Plus, people who would have been boxers about 20 years ago, are going into basketball or football. That's one of the things fucking up the heavyweight scene in America.

Boxing and MMA are so different it's ridiculous to compare the two to one another and while I'm a fan of both, I prefer boxing because it's more of a chess match in the ring. The problem with boxing, and most fighters, fans, and journalists agree is those damn organizations and those paper belts. Back in the day it was one champ and the rest were fighting for contention. Now it's iBF, WBC, WBA and more. As a fan you almost can't keep up with it. Aslo there is a serious lack of ko's in boxing now. Some people who have ko power don't go for the ko and there hasn't been a claer cut defining fight of the year for boxing this year (although my vote is for the marquez-katsidis fight this past saturday).. Boxing just needs more. More stars, more compelling heavyweight matches and less belts. UFC fighters are different because they square their shoulders to their opponent, your on an angle in boxing. I love both sports but UFC does not match up to the sport of boxing in my eyes.

There will never be great athletes, or atleast many of them in the heavyweight division. Too many sports draw from that talent pool that is small to begin with. The money is in football, hockey, etc,

But at the same time, these little guys like 170 and below have no sports other than basically combat sports for them to get into. These guys are p4p very athletic.

Fighting and playing a contact sport are two completely different things....ANYBODY can pick up a ball and play _________ but it takes a different mindset to throw hands with someone. That right there alone is enough to warrant more respect than T/S is giving fighters.

Co-sign that. I echo those sentiments to te fullest. I've heard Myweather say that many of times. Anybody can run up and down a court and shoot a jump shot but evrybody can't get in the ring and exchange blows with another person

Co-sign, but y'all late on this. I've NEVER watched a UFC/MMA fight start to finish and refuse to. It's garbage. You can tell alot about a sport just by looking at its competitors. Two red flags for me...

1. All of the "washed-up" athletes from other sports giving it a try and doing pretty well at it. That would be like Michael Vick going to the 76ers tomorrow and easily averaging 20 ppg and 12asst with no training camp and even though he hasn't played organized ball since middle-school and with no prior proof that he could EVER play basketball -- I would lose a lot of respect for the NBA real quick. Hell, even Jordan got sonned by the game of baseball when he tried it.

2. And this is the biggie -- My racist ass grandpa (god rest his crazy ass soul, lol) Told me something a long time ago when him and my pops was talking about Golf. He said "you can always tell how 'real' a sport is by how many good WHITE PLAYERS it has in it." You can't find a decent middle, light, or heavyweight WHITE BOXER, but MMA is filled with roided-out, thick-neck white fighters that are supposed to be so "good".

MMA is to Boxing what AND-1/Harlem Globetrotters is to real Basketball. It's just boxing without the precision, skill, and restraints. Which for me = boooorrrrrrriiiiinnnnng.

Pretty much...

And has anyone ever seen the so-called KO's in MMA??? Dude hits other dude, other dude falls, 1st dude jumps on top and throws 1000 punches on a defenseless man and fight is stopped... stupidest shit ever... especially when only like 3 of those 1000 punches makes it thru the defenseless dude's guard...

MMA is just like every other "extreme sport"... white people cannot dominate or be competitive in the established sports so the 'create' an extreme version of some hobby (skateboarding, snowboarding, BMX, Superbike stunts, etc) and make it a sport. FOH
