Nope. Only a small percentage of the women's movement hate men and they have been over publicized by the media to discredit it as a political, social and economic movement.
But I won't get into a women's studies discussion in this forum. There is no point.
Just stating my opinion. I'm all for female empowerment, but not if it has to be done by tearing down males (which it is for the most part).
Covet may claim to be a feminist, but she isn't.
Meeting up with a guy from a forum could be empowering for a female if she called the shots or whatever.
Not because she wanted 'dick' from an internet forum, settled for the first one that seemed within grasp (on some 'first come, first served' type of thing), then being continually disrespected by said man. He wouldn't even kiss her.
Also it being a man with a girlfriend, how is that empowering to women?
You were talking about feminism as a movement and that it's just another form of sexism. That is my problem, because feminists have been trying to combat that view for years and you're basically discrediting them, when without a movement, chixx wouldn't have as many gains as they enjoy today--voting rights, contraception, sexual abuse/violence laws, etc.
On to Covet--I said that I do not care what she does in her private life because it's her business. Never was here to argue if she was a feminist or not. I merely said that I enjoy the viewpoint she gave on social issues. You may have a problem with her, but whatever feeling you have toward her, I don't. Simple as that, b.
The feminist movement has served its purpose (in the Western world).
It was needed, at a time.
The feminists of the past are a far cry from the ones of the present,
Nowadays they're, for the most part, bra burning man haters.
How many feminists do you actually know and converse with? The bra burning man hating feminist is a stereotype that went out with the 1970s. The feminists I attended school with were academic intellectuals and professors who haven't burned anything accept a blunt and work in conjunction with other men as social activists for equality.
Contrary to popular belief, there is no direct tie with feminism and man hatred. Studies have shown that most young women who identify as feminist actually tend to have healthier relationships with their male partners and have better sex. It doesn't predict poor relationships and hatred of men--in most women, it does the exact opposite.
I'm just going to quote this from another thread, this is exactly what you're doing.

the educated ones think that every discussion is a fucking debate with a winner and a loser...
Lol at part of your argument being basically, 'i know more feminists than you'. I was merely stating my own opinion.
Do I, as a woman, not have the right to do so?
I thought part of female empowerment was being able to say what you think and/or believe in.
LOL at you getting mad dramatic over nothing.
It's just a question. I only asked you how many feminists that you knew. By your defensive reaction to that simple question and inability to give a yes or no answer, I'm assuming that you're heavily relying on sexist stereotypes to describe them. That wasn't my argument. I was also going to ask you if you had done any outside research or thoroughly studied on the subject, but with your reaction, again, I can surmise what the answer will be.
And yes, of course you're allowed to state your own opinion. I never said you didn't. Doesn't mean that your opinion won't be problematic or questionable.
In the space of what, an hour, you've typed more essays than I ever did when I studied english literature in high school, yet I'm the one being dramatic? lol.
Your definition of feminist differs from mine therefore I couldn't possibly say how many feminists I know.
I was going to ask you why you feel the need to advertise the fact that you're a feminist?
Through being an avid reader I know plenty about feminism, probably more than most. I know about the subject and formed my own understanding and opinion on it, much like you have. Respect that.
1. Being passionate about a topic / = being dramatic.
so when you do it, it's just being passionate, but when she does it, she's being dramatic? :-?
When you turn a simple question into a bigger deal that it needs to be, um...yeah.
so when you do the exact same thing, how is that not being dramatic as well?
I wasn't being dramatically initially in this case.
She was the one who avoided a civil, simple question and turned it into a big deal to cover up the fact that she got caught not knowing what she was talking about. :-\"
You are one of these annoying people that major in an easy subject (womens studies, lol) and try and make it seem like it's so much harder than it is. LOL.
It must not be too simple, because simple minded fucks like yourself maintain still maintain archaic ideas about feminism generally being a man-hating movement.
All presentation and no substance. It works on your simps, but not on me.
