that was an historic show and all the big names in hip hop at the time were there.

Big

Snoop

Dre

Nas

Wu Tang

Right, a bunch of others were there too.

We didn't get to see a Source awards after this until 1999 cuz of all the shit that happened. If i'm not mistaken this shit was aired on cable and pay-per-view. After 2000 were the DJ Quik shit happened, the E-40 shit happened, the Tha Row running up on stage happened, all the robberies we didn't see a Source awards after 2001, until BET had a phony Source/BET award show mix.

Shit was classic but all the hood shit made the big companies back off.

Funny how it was Benzino who announced Dr. Dre as the winner.

Yeah but this was the time they had the strong-arm ordeal with Dave Mays in the Source. I have older Source magazines on my computer and they had quite a few ads in 1994-1995.

BTW, i guess there's missing some parts. Nothing important though. I don't even know if it aired. Just Da Brat performing, 69 Boyz performing and irrelevant shit like that lol. There's some footage of that on Best Of Source dvd's though.

the funniest thing i remember was when puffy came back on the stage and was like yeah im the producer who was mentioned earlier

Wow. Look at Noo Yawk in the year 1995 b.c. (Before camel). They used to have identity and pride. No region in any genre of music has fallen off and died faster and harder than New York. watching this makes me very fortunate and proud to be a southerner.

Here's another video i posted a few years ago on here.

It's a lil behind the scenes of Source Awards 1994.

yo you get that feeling the whole video from everybody commenting, that they just waiting for a nigga to start some shit..like its cool and nice that we all here but...

Shit, you're not lying dawg. They were already booing anyone not from the east back then. That is a huge misconception in hip-hop. That whole mentality started in the late 80's/early 90's. NWA was booed alot in the east back then. I'm sure they had alot of fans as well but alot of artists got fronted on.

You'll see Dogg Pound get up and take an award and talk about the whole "East vs West" thing. My only question is why Dre and Snoop didn't go to the 1994 awards..

real ass hip hop awards show unlike that BET bullshit

True, but to be fair it only represents the current mainstream side of the culture. If the Source awards were today it would've been the same shit you see on BET awards.

Even back then i remember people complaining alot about how Biggie won lyricist of the year instead of Nas and things like that. People are always not gonna like somethings about awards.

One thing i've always felt people have a scewed perception about is when Snoop asked the NY crowd the question.

For some reason people always look at that as if Snoop "confronted" the crowd, when he didn't. He even said "we know we're we at, east coast in the muthafucking house". His point was, "y'all even fronting on us now?!". If wasn't like he said "fuck y'all niggas".

what year was it when andre said 'the south got something to say' ?

It was this year. Like i said there's some parts that either didn't air on TV or the uploader didn't upload. I noticed it after i posted it. It's just small parts though, like Da Brat's performance and 69 Boyz performance. It was during their acceptance speech. Some of these things y'all can watch on the Source Best Of dvd's.
