How are they gonna beat Thanos without A W ?

Marvel Films always plays fast and loose with the source material, so they might just use an already established character.

To be fair, even in the comics, the good guys didn't beat Thanos even with AW.

Thanos basically wiped out all the heroes and enslaved the Cosmics. The plan brewed up by Warlock, Strange, and Surfer almost succeeded but literally failed by inches. Thanos lost because he because he turned himself into the new Eternity, but didn't really account for the fact that even in that state, his power was still tied to the Gauntlet. So while he was occupied being a deity, Nebula was free to snatch the Gauntlet off his physical body. Then she put it on, went crazy, and Thanos more or less tricked her allowing the heroes to get the Gauntlet back. Warlock was a major character in the story and actually became more closely tied to the gems than Thanos was, but he wasn't really essential to Thanos' defeat.

Yeah, seemed like they were building up to that in GotG2.

Spoilers or not.. I stay outa these threads if I haven't seen the movie after it's been released(even when its been released overseas before it hits the states).

in the comics after thanos took whatever gem adam warlock had, warlock's soul was apparently connected to the stone which he used to stop thanos. since vision has a gem in his head there's a speculation that that the same thing could happen in the film but with vision instead of adam.
