The Cleveland Browns are well-versed in trading down in the first round of the NFL draft, and a recent report indicates the team could have several options if it wants to do it again this year.

The Philadelphia Eagles and St. Louis Rams are among at least four teams that have expressed interest in acquiring the Browns' No. 4 overall pick, league sources told The Plain Dealer. The newspaper said there was "a decent chance" the Browns would move down in the draft.

ATL: Pick of the litter?

Numerous teams are reportedly making a play for the No. 4 overall pick, but Marc Sessler writes the Browns' best move is to stay put in the first round. More ...

Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill, USC offensive tackle Matt Kalil, LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne and Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon were cited in the report as possible targets for teams interested in trading up. Kalil has been projected to be drafted by the Minnesota Vikings with the No. 3 pick -- all four of the most recent mock drafts by NFL.com experts slot him there -- but Vikings general manager Rick Spielman said his team might trade the selection.

On Tuesday, an NFL executive told CBSsports.com that "half of the teams in the top 10 are trying to trade out."

Opinions have varied on what the Browns would do with their first pick if they elect not to trade it. Three NFL.com experts said Alabama running back Trent Richardson would land in Cleveland, but Chad Reuter predicted Justin Blackmon to go to the Browns.

The Eagles and Rams both have multiple second-round picks with which they could facilitate a trade with the Browns. The Rams earlier moved down four spots from the No. 2 pick to acquire three first-round selections as well a second rounder.

The Browns, who already hold an NFL-best 13 draft picks this year, have traded back in the first round in two of the last three years.

Well congrats rams fans. welcome to fisherball!!!!! something we had to put up with for 16 years

Fisher says he hasn't devalued the RB position

Rams coach Jeff Fisher insists he has not devalued running backs despite a perception that the position has lost appeal around the NFL.

The idea is that backs have lost value in a passing league. The most valuable runners are now those that play in the passing game and don't fumble.

"I haven't devalued the running back position," Fisher insisted. "You're talking to the wrong person. I want as many of them on the roster as you can get." Fisher consistently used high draft picks on running backs in Tennessee. He will do the same of Trent Richardson falls to St. Louis at No. 6.

So don't be shocked — or even surprised — if the Rams take Alabama running back Trent Richardson if he's available at No. 6 in the draft, on April 26.

"I think he's a very, very talented player," Fisher said. "He doesn't have a lot of wear-and-tear because it's been a one-year deal for him (as a feature back). But he's got great explosion and quickness in the hole and change of direction with the jump cut, and power, and ball security."

The Rams' coach is well aware of the argument against taking Richardson: with needs almost everywhere on the depth chart why take another running back when you have three-time Pro Bowler Steven Jackson?

"One could make the case that it may be one of those positions that you could consider passing up because of Steven's presence on roster," Fisher said.

But he also adds: "I don't think we can pass on any position at that pick because of our need." (Or lack of need.)

NEW YORK GIANTS OWNER JOHN MARA ENVISIONS END TO KICKOFFS NFL.com Published: April 15, 2012 at 1:32 PM

New York Giants owner John Mara, a member of the NFL Competition Committee, can see a day when kickoffs will be eliminated from football.

"We had a lot of discussions about whether we should eliminate it, and if we did, what we could do in its place," Mara told Giants.com . "There's no consensus on it right now, but I could see the day in the future where that play could be taken out of the game. You see it evolving toward that."

Last year, the league moved kickoffs from the 30-yard line to the 35 as a safety measure, which Mara said is the committee's top priority. He added that the increase in touchbacks last year coincided with a decrease in concussions. Although there is little interest in eliminating kickoffs at this point, Mara pointed out: "There was no support for moving the kickoff back to the 30-yard line."

Mara said the NFL won't eliminate kickoffs until it has the right plan, but he seems to believe the play is fundamentally unsafe.

"Nobody would go that far now, but we talk about different blocks that we can outlaw," Mara said. "The problem is that the concussions come from everywhere --from the wedge, from the crossing blocks where a guy goes from one side of the field to another, from a full-speed collision between a return guy and a tackler. So there's no one thing that you can do. It's something that we'll continue to watch as closely as possible."

They going to far if this happen

Yeah, and it only lends more credibility to the people saying Goodell is trying to turn the league into Flag Football.

The majority of injuries happen while players are running -- does that mean all NFL games should be "walk-throughs" now in shorts and shells? FOH

I'm a Giants fan and I don't like this. It has to be Goodell putting a bug in their ear for this to be talked about. The game is slowly becoming a game that we will not recognize in the near future.

Why the hell the Jets thinking ground and pound is what wins in this league?

Niggas is having delusions. Do them niggas not know that the rules benefit passing QBs?

They lost before the season started.

Regardless of what the "trend" is, it makes no sense to try to be a run and gun team if your defense is obviously your strength.

If your defense is your best unit, you wanna slow the game down not speed it up.
