kill the messenger- cool flick... i know must of us already knew about rick ross/CIA coke movement in the 80-90s, but to learn about the actual reporter to break the story was cool, and how the story turned from the CIA to tarnishing my mans name

I just watched Kill The Messenger...

Thought this was the Rick Ross story. Ross is in it for 30 seconds

I'm about to watch this movie called "Timbuktu". I will do a follow up on it and let you know how it was.

Edit: There's no english subtitles anywhere or on any website for this movie so I cannot watch it. Only French and Sweden.

Saturday night; two movies released in the early 90s

Frankie & Johnny - romantic drama starring Al Pacino and Michelle Pfeiffer. It was cool. A tad too long but I think they both got chemistry since Scarface. Looking at how NY looked in the early 90s was enjoyable

Mo' Better Blues - Spike Lee joint about jazz players, their women, friendships and the streets.

I have to say it's one of my most enjoyable Spike films. Great script/screenplay. Top acting by Denzel of course but Spike's role as 'Giant' was underrated and funny.

LMAO at one scene when they all drunk AF when Denzel and W. Snipes were arguing about 'Black music' and someone in the background screams: "Kenny G!!!"

About to watch it now.

Philadelphia - First time i've watched this movie. It really hasn't aged well at all, i didn't think it'd be as much of an aids awareness exercise at it was, but there wasn't really any other angle to it.Didn't Hanks win an oscar for this as well?

Masquerade - Korean flick starring the enigmatic Lee Byung Hyun.Tale of a paranoid king during the ming dynasty who recruits a lookalike to act as cover, who takes over when the king falls ill himself.Good movie.

Still Alice - Julianne Moore plays an linguistics lecturer who gets diagnosed with a rare type of alzheimers.

The Voices - Ryan Reynolds plays a factory worker with somewhat disturbing tendencies going on in his head that he isn't fully aware of in an ultra black comedy.really different performance from the guy, one of the best i've seen from him.credits are on some other shit as well.

Fallen Angels - Wong Kai Wai neo noir fantasy joint which follows a bunch of characters (contract killer, mute) set in hong kong.Im usually like this directors films but this one did nothing for me even though it;s rated quite highly.

Lost River - Directorial debut of one Ryan Gosling. If you watch enough movies you'll pick up the places this film has been influenced from.I certainly don't think it's as bad as it's being labelled in some quarters, visually he's definitely got an eye and the soundtrack is immense.if he doesn't write his own shit in the future he's got potential.

Selma - Powerful movie, i've never really taken the time to study MLK as a figure but this movie made me want to find out more.if anyone has some book recommendations i'd appreciate it.

Man on the moon - Biopic of Andy Kaufman, i'm not sure how accurate this movie is (it doesn't feel like it is) but i enjoyed it.Jim Carrey stays underrated as serious actor in roles like this.the whole Tony Klifton shit was hilarious.

All Good Things (2010) Starring Ryan Gosling, Kirsten Dunst, Frank Langella, Nick Offerman, & Kristen Wiig. It's based on the true story of Robert Durst but the names have been changed. Shit was boring, slow, and didn't really go anywhere. About to watch the HBO documentary mini-series The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst which is probably a better take on the story. As for All Good Things I'll be generous and give it a 2/10.

Watched the HBO documentary Tales of the Grim Sleeper case. I don't know where the fuck I was in 2010, cause I have no idea how I could have missed a story this big. It was cool, but damn @ basically everyone snitching on themselves.

saw ex machina today...was about exploring AI & human/robot interactions. not a new concept at all in movies, but it's a cool take on it. oscar isaac aka standard gabriel is my favorite actor right now. he played a programmer/coder that created human-like robots that had emotions & all that shit...he had a lottery for another coder from his company to come in & test the quality of the AI/technology for a week. couple twists happen (nothing shocking tho imo) in the last half hour.

good movie i give it a solid B.

The Three Fugitives - action comedy released in 1988 starring Nick Nolte, Martin Short and James Earl Jones.. it was a remake of a French film (I'm getting into dated movies these days)

South Korean drama by director/auteur Kim Ki-Duk about a debt collector who also enforces violent injuries on his defaulters..

A woman appears in his life claiming to be his mother and shit hits the fan.. literally

The end is stomach churning (blood on tarmac) and the food staples of Koreans are wild AF

4/5
