TDK & BB were both great comic book films but I'll wait until the 3rd movie to drop before I'll say the batman franchise has set the bar. The Spider-Man movies were close but that 3rd movie went overboard with the villans.

But Batman right now since 89' is 4 for 6 with only "Forever and Batman and Robin" being weak. "Batman" has set the bar in my view, Sure the 1st Two Superman's got the ball rolling but Batman is the "Star Wars" of Comic Book Movies. "Spider-man" 1 and 2 are good but 3 really brought the series down and the new reboot they are filming I don't know if that's going to be good or not. X-Men series has jump the shark also. Here's an interesting fact, "Batman" films have broke the opening weekend Box Office Record 3 times (BM89, BMR, TDK) and adjusted for inflation, "TDK and BM 89" are the Top 2 grossing Comic Book movies ever.

I didn't want so many BATMAN's in my top 5 but I agree, "Batman Returns" is so slept on, people need to go back and watch it again, that movie was crack. I agree that Bale was a better Bruce but Keaton was the best bringing both characters together. Keaton was a great Batman and a Really good Bruce. Bale was a Average to Weak Batman and a Great Bruce.

Keaton seem out of place as BW but pulled off Batman perfectly. Keaton made the most out of the role I wished they would had kept him for 3 & 4 instead we got 2 of the worst Batman films ever made.

If Keaton would of been in "Forever" and Burton stayed for 1 more film it would of been a Classic Trilogy, oh well. Hopefully Nolan doesn't suffer the "Threequel" Curse also.

HELL No. Spider-Man 2 (easily)>>>Batman 89.

Jack Nicholson's Joker is trash compared to Ledger and the storyline is garbage. Only Tim Burton's atmosphere and amazing design of Gotham even makes that movie worth watching. Keaton also has a bit more presence as Batman than Bale. But the storylineof TDK is EASILY better.

C'mon on did you just start watching comic films after TDK or what?

See I disagee I think Keaton is a better Wayne and Batman over Bale. Keaton's an underatted actor in general.

The X-Men franchise is just one big klusterfuck now Fox should just give back the rights to Marvel. I'm convinced that this prequel they gone put out this summer is going to bomb. X-Men 2 is probably the best movie out of the entire series.

Yeah you're probably right b/c it was well on its way but, we got 2 bad movies that nearly destroyed Batman fims and kept the franchise on the shelf for 8 yrs before Batman Begins dropped. I seriously hope they fix Superman b/c I never want to see another Superman movie like the one in 06.

In his case yes lol Heath to me stole Jack's thunder in that role but, I give props to Jack for what he did in 89 with The Joker role. After this installment of Batman films are done it's gone be hard to top what Heath did w/his version of the Joker.

I'm excited about the new Superman, Nolan is producing and Zack is directing. I personally like "The Watchman", was it perfect? No and I think people expectations cause of how legendary the comic is was out of wack. Zack has the talent to make a great Superhero movie. "Superman Returns" was basically a guy trying to remake the Christopher Reeves version. Even Roth, he was cast just cause he looked like Reeves. Singer's tried but he failed with "Superman Returns". He did ok with X-men 1 and 2 cause they actually weren't that bad, the new X-man does look really forced and I wouldn't be shocked if it flopped this summer.

But "MAN OF STEEL" may end up redeem the franchise than Nolan would of saved Batman and Superman from extinction cause the general public were done with both after "Superman Returns" and "Forever and Batman and Robin" damn near killed both franchises. What about what we have up to bat this summer. "THOR" and "CAPTAIN AMERICA" could break out or they could disappoint. "GREEN LANTERN" also looks a little forced. I'm not that excited about the Comic/Superhero movies this summer, I hope something Surprises me like "Iron Man" did back in 08, SMH @ "Iron Man 2" messing up the franchise.

Nope.

Hamill's Joker>>Nicholson

Nicholson just played a goofier version of himself. All I saw was Jack in makeup. Heath DISSAPEARED in to his character.

The creator of Batman, "Bob Kane" said that Jack's Joker was played the way he intended the character to be played when he created him. Jack's version is the most true to the original comics of the Joker. Heath's version is more of the Joker during Frank Miller's 1980's comics of "Batman" which includes "The Dark Knight Returns". And the TV Joker was more cartoonish than Jack. People forget the Joker is cartoonish as much as he is sinister. Jack brought a great mixture of both. Heath was more on the Dark end and the TV Version was more on the colorful/cartoon end. Again Jack brought balance to the character which is why the creator cosigned his performance.

I think Thor & Captain America is going to be good movies. Captain America has the potential to be a breakout movie Green Lantern looks cheap as hell DC is just trying to rush their movies from the looks of it. Iron man 2 was a piss poor effort and the fight with IM/WM against whiplash was garbage. I hope IM3 is a much better film than the last one.

Jack's Joker cannot be taken seriously. When I watch Batman 89' I feeel like I am watching a kid's movie. Heath's Joker is all the more menacing because he is grounded in reality. Like I said before, Nicholson's Joker is just him with facepaint. At times you almost forget it is Heath in the costume. The role may have cost him his life (RIP), but he completely blew Nicholson's version out of the water.

nigga please......... superman was trash

I'm not debating the the film itself. It's dated. Maybe even corny by today's standards. I'm just trippin off a 7 year old being pissed about a superhero doing unexplainable things. Ain't that what superheros do?

I remember the Captain America movie from '90 good story but cheesy ass costumes. Flash was a tv show on CBS I think in '90 as well but I remember very little of it.

they are supposed to supply that illusion that it is possible

"Possible" doesn't create drama, tension, or intrigue. It's their job to show us our heros in impossible situations so that they can do impossible things to overcome them.
