Lmao @ people thinking this will still come out in March. Obviously it will be delayed.

As for 3rd party support. I don't know where you guys have been the last year and a half but it's been iterated ad naseum that Nintendo went for an android based OS and development architecture in order to make developing for their platform more universal for everybody.

In other words no more developing games around 2 seperate architectures like in previous gens. Since everything is being made with one platform in mind it makes it easier to not just develop but increase software output frequency which is appealing to 3rd parties devs and publisher.

So far every major publisher has been in talks with Nintendo about NX. Not one has yet to back out of talks.

All the major publishers n devs were unboard when the wii U was announced aswell, we all know how that went....everybody and their momma is trying to get their shit on steam, indies galore on pc, consoles n mobile nowadays...there was this one console only @Karl. copped - forgot the name - that even amateurs like us could release games on lol...shit flopped.

You didn't get the point of my post. At all.

Yes they were onboard with the Wii U from jump and opted out in the end because of it's tricky architecture and just stuck with the 3DS. Which is why they are now going with a more universal architecture across one platform so that devs won't just quit on them early in the game and they have everything in place to let them work with just one budget at a time per release.

As opposed to 2 seperate ones as it was before (ie: Gamecube and Game Boy Advance and Wii and DS) saving them money and time (key elements in game developing industry) and refocusing their strongest teams across the board on one version of a game instead of having them have to delegate responsibility to a lesser team because there are more than one version.

I haven't bought a Nintendo home console since the 1990s. But with all the info out there on how the company has adapted and focused on changing 2 major factors that have recently held them back (confusing devs with 2 separate dev architectures at a time and region locking) I also feel it's beyond ridiculous to already count Nintendo out.

Muthafuckas been singing the Nintendo doom and gloom songs since the 5th generation of gaming. Yet here we are in the 9th and they're still here and more valuable than ever. Gamers never learn.

Niggas doubtin' Nintendo smh the gamin' market is ripe for them right now fam. Niggas who care about super hardware have PCs. Pro and Scorpio are meh.

If they release Pokemon, Mario, Smash and Kart within the first 6 months of the NX like they've been rumoured too...Could be nice. Oh shit and Metroid and Zeda

Nah fam, third party support dropped cause the wii U flopped, blame Nintendo's marketing dep for that...no one even knew the wii U was out upon release sans a few diehard fans lol..its first year was every marketeer's nightmare...

With that said I didnt cop the wii U for the 3rd party games - Rayman Legends and Darksiders II were the shit though - nor will I cop a NX for 3rd party support....Nintendo has been in their own lane since the og wii basically, they can release several consoles that flop harder than the wii u and still have billions in equity...

Theyll probably be succesfull af with what theyre plotting right now but the facts are that the wii U promised a lot, shit flopped and ofcourse a lot of people are going to be sceptic...

You still missed my point but I'll clarify one last time.

The Wii U flopped partly because most 3rd party support dropped before the platform even had a full 2 years out.

That happened because 3rd party devs had trouble developing for the Wii U architecture and were losing money on trying to figure it out on a platform that wasn't even profiting them via software sales anyway.

When the Wii dropped it had the same hardware architecture as the Gamecube just overclocked and propped up. So it was easy for 3rd parties to develop for because they were already familiar with the architecture they were coding for now for many years. Thus a crapload of shovelware from 3rd parties on that platform by the end. Same happened with DS to 3DS.

With the Wii U however it was a completely new architecture. One that most outside of Nintendo truly didn't comprehend and Nintendo didn't make it easier for them to understand it. Which hurt them in the end. Hell it's arguable that in the end Nintendo themselves didn't fully get how to truly exploit the gamepad to full capacity among other things.

However since they knew the most being that it was their own custom architecture in place they ended up with some games that are unquestionably some of their most critically acclaimed of all time.

It's just a shame that these instant classics didn't really get truly embraced by millions of Nintendo fans (a base that spans across hundreds of millions of people worldwide) across the world outside of the 13 million or so that own a Wii U. I believe that is something they don't take likely and want to rectify. That and the transparency and trust that they develop in future relations with 3rd party publishers and their dev teams going forward which is a priority of theirs.

Also yes they flubbed the marketing. Most people thought the Wii U was a late add-on to the Wii. They had no clue that it was it's successor because Nintendo didn't clarify this and make it clear enough via marketing and their branding (should've created a brand new name from scratch for it altogether). I'm not exempting them I'm just saying that was just part of a greater web of problems in the end.

It wasn't all just the marketing. It was the way they handled 3rd party devs, it was the way they stubbornly clinged on to outdated and complex propriety dev kits instead of creating something more universal and easy to absorb, It was the way they thought re-using the Wii brand would solidify easy early adoption Super Nintendo style when the Wii had a lot of ill will towards itself from gamers in the end unlike the NES etc.

The good news is they've learned from all this. So it's going to be interesting where their hardware business evolves to from there.

Super Mario 3D World a top 5 Mario game.

Fight me

The majority agrees with you.

A lot of Mario purists don't see it as a proper Mario game.

It's arguably more "proper" than stuff like Sunshine or Galaxy since it refocuses on old school platforming mechanics and level design.

If this thing is a hybrid it's going to be the best nintendo console unless they massively fuck it up. There would be no reason to not get 15-20 nintendo published games a year + whatever 3rd parties are onboard.

Now When the 3d Mario is done they can make something else instead of having to make another one for the console. Same with Zelda, & MK. Can't wait to see what they gonna do.
