What exactly are the negative sides of homosexuality that don't also apply to straight people?
Hey sir/mam word to the wise, you may want to hit that "Quote" button when you want an answer for some ppl. I walked right past that post a couple times and didn't realize you were talking to me......
Umm since you asked, I'm sorry to inform you but there are quite a few negative sides of male homosexuality that are rarely talked about (if any) that barely apply to heterosexuals. It's just not in the media as much. We already mentioned the HIV/STD studies that show gay men are likely to catch that stuff than hetero's so, that surely doesn't put a positive spin on that side of the field either. Mind you, these studies are from legit sources too. That could be the conversation stopper right there.....
Another hitter quitter that surely doesn't put a positive spin on that side of the field is this association w/ Mental Illness. Quite frankly as of this very day (01-July-2015), I think you ARE still scientifically labeled mentally ill. From the looks of things, that has never been scientifically disproved. The only reason homo's are not considered mentally ill under the eye of science is due to the gay marches and push back from the gay community at that time and the ADA bending and folding to remove gays from the list as mentally ill. However, to my knowledge has there been no or little scientific or medical backing that homos are NOT mentally ill. Surely there may be hetero's that are mentally ill, but not solely based on there sexuality like homo's are. Hey if I'm incorrect about something, please inform me w/ constructive criticism....

Homosexual people tend to experience more mental health problems than heterosexual people, research indicates
Rates of depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, phobia, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, and alcohol and drug dependence were significantly higher in homosexual respondents.
Dr. Chakraborty believes the findings are “very worrying.” He said, “This study is the first time the mental health and well-being of gay, lesbian and bisexual people has been examined in a random sample of the population.
“Our study confirms earlier work carried out in the UK, USA and Holland which suggests that non-heterosexual people are at higher risk of mental disorder, suicidal ideation, substance misuse and self-harm than heterosexual people.”

According to the American Psychiatric Association, until 1974 homosexuality was a mental illness. Freud had alluded to homosexuality numerous times in his writings, and had concluded that paranoia and homosexuality were inseparable.
What’s noteworthy about this is that the removal of homosexuality from the list of mental illnesses was not triggered by some scientific breakthrough. There was no new fact or set of facts that stimulated this major change.
Then in 1970 gay activists protested against the APA convention in San Francisco. These scenes were repeated in 1971, and as people came out of the “closet” and felt empowered politically and socially, the APA directorate became increasingly uncomfortable with their stance. In 1973 the APA’s nomenclature task force recommended that homosexuality be declared normal. The trustees were not prepared to go that far, but they did vote to remove homosexuality from the list of mental illnesses by a vote of 13 to 0, with 2 abstentions. This decision was confirmed by a vote of the APA membership, and homosexuality was no longer listed in the seventh edition of DSM-II, which was issued in 1974.
To be considered "mentally ill" whether you do not have the title is still not a good look either. If someone was diagnosed as mentally ill and was "proven" to be mentally stable, I'm pretty sure that would raise eyebrows due to the fact you were diagnosed as ill. Similar to guilty ppl who are not given a 2nd chance at life due to them being titled "Guilty"............
Another negative spin for that side was DADT. That surely was a big slap in the face to the homosexual male. That was just f*cked up all around cause I actually work for them cats. So, one heter and one homo applied for the same job, lets say the homo was actually a better candidate for the job. Better scores, better fitness, better everything all around than a hetero male. The homo was still denied simply because of his sexuality, mind you, even though he would've been the better choice. That's really sad mane!!

Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Repeal Act of 2010
Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell (DADT)—the law prohibiting gay and lesbian people from serving openly in the military—is officially in the dustbin of history. For 17 years, the law prohibited qualified gay and lesbian Americans from serving in the armed forces and sent a message that discrimination was acceptable.
