Network layer. All IP routing is done at the network layer. MAC address routing is done at Data link layer. The application layer is the end result of whatever you doing. Example, your browser operates at the application layer (HTTP).

Never heard that before. So, the standard OSI model is 7 layers that can be communicated as 4 layers in the TCP/IP model. "Communications" isnt one of those in either.

trying to figure out if I need to use a default route on this router if I'm not using any routing protocols. It's just for a test environment. for some reason i cant reach the router from my vlans so i was gonna try diff shit.

All you gotta do is google, various free programs that allow you to change IP address. It's so easy anyone can do it.
Have to use a paid version to get round network providers 'fair use policy'. Only allowing download limit 30gig a month. Can download that in a day.

Best ones are roaming that changes your IP every 30secs. Good if you a torrent fiend.
