did you need MTV to really tell you Rick Ross was the hottest? Really? he had the game on lock for at least the past TWO - THREE years.

But to answer your question.. he will get close ... very close.

it's hard as hell to go Platinum in hip-hop unless you go pop or have a worldwide fan base. He will definitely sell more but imo he probably wont.

No... singles don't guarantee sales anymore. Plus his buzz is nowhere near what he had in '10. Gold, yeah... platinum, no.

Why should he go platinum?

99% of HipHop artists don't even go Gold.

The last time a non crossover artist went platinum was Young Jeezy back in 2006 with "The Inspiration",

This is 2012, last year only 4 rappers went platinum and 4 went Gold.

The year before that only 2 rappers went platinum and 5 went Gold

Hopefully he can resist the temptation to cross over and go platinum by going POP.

eh i would like to see him go plat and break a chain of only a certain artists that go plat but nah he wont

Ross hasnt seen platinum yet so I doubt it. BMF & Ashton Martin couldnt take him there. Plus hip hop is returning to the "Ja Ruleish" stage. Fat black drug dealer gimmick isnt as appealing as young fresh faces spitting about fly life and beautiful women. i.e. J cole & wale.

Not gonna happen, white folks and bitches don't fuck with Ross like that. He'll be a slighty above gold rapper his whole career,or i should say until his fans move on to the next new nigga.

I want to see Ross become an elite artist but without mainstream hits to do so, earning a platinum plaque I feel would not only do that for him but also cement the streets as being the number one voice in hip-hop and not T.V./Radio

Platinum certification is nothing but a trophy for an artist.

As a solo artist Chingy has two platinum albums and Rakim has ZeRO.

The Insane Clown Possee have more Platinum plaques than Jadakiss.

If you know that around 85% of the people who buy HipHop albums are white and that Black people are only 12% of the population then you should know that Ross will never go platinum and hopefully he can ignore the people who want him to and not attempt to dilute his craft or white-wash his music to go platinum.

I already said this but Ross music doesn't target enough demographics

I think a big part of Ross problem is he really isn't evolving, the nigga has a niche and he damn sure stick to it. All his albums and interchangeable as hell to me. Basically his music lends itself to a certain audience and that's why he only sell a certain amount.

So what did Jeezy do that was so special to go platinum? Don't him and Ross basically have the same fanbase?

Jeezy hasn't been platinum since 2006 the same year that Ross made his debut.

This is 2012 and the only platinum rappers are Jay/Kanye Wayne/Drake Emenim/Nicki.

Vanilla Ice went 10X platinum.

Paul Wall has a platinum plaque but Z-Ro doesn't.

Jeezy also makes better music but i think Jeezy's first album was the only to go platinum and he was far bigger than Ross at the time and the album came right before people really stopped buying albums

To be honest he has been trying to go pop wit da singles his whole career since his first album he has got rnb acts on his singles going for a soft sound.

Maybe so, I just thought an artist that's as hot as Ross is now should be more than a gold artist. It may just be a trophy to some but plaque also represent the connection between an artist, their fans, and the music they present to them.
