IDK how Native Americans feel about the Redskins in particular but the Seminole tribe is proud that Florida State reps for them. I think its a compliment.

It's not unique to Native Americans. Look at Notre Dame. First, the logo is a caricaturization of the Irish; just like the Skins. Second, it plays of the stereotype of the Irish getting in fights all the time. The may as well put a bottle of whiskey in his hand with him planting a fucking car bomb with all the offensive shit surrounding their name and mascot.
When teams get named after groups of people it's because of their fighting spirit; it's not to be taken as an insult. Redskins, Indians, Braves, Chiefs, Vikings, Patriots, Blue Jackets, Raiders, Bucs, the Fighting Irish....it's all the same man.

I am from DC and I am part Blackfoot. I find it funny that the white man would name a team after what he found terrifying and complex. In some ways I am able to see the compliment but at the same time the word is out and the times have changed. If they changed the name Football would still be just as popular here in DC. But I would suck because there would be no more Roach(Cowboys) and (Indian)Redskins Games.

And I agree that names like "Celtics" and "Patriots" is no different. The last N.A.
