I spend a lot of time in Woodlawn cause that's where I grew up so it's near and dear to my heart. It's not safe but I never feel unsafe there, I suppose because I mind my business. I only feel uneasy in Parkway Hoagies because they don't take orders over the phone so I have to wait inside for like 20 minutes, which can potentially be a death trap. But the hoagies are worth it.

@"king hassan"‌ Did you go to McCosh? I did. Obviously we wouldn't have been there at the same time lol, but just curious

Fiske>>>>McCosh couldn't stand them or Sexton.

Fiske is closed down now, I walk past that school on the way to work every morning, U of C built a brand new school right behind it on the corner 63rd between Ellis & Ingleside

i used to live there, on 61st and S. Ingleside. Lived there for a month last year when I was here for a course down in Jackson Park Hospital.

A lot of the interns here @ U of C live on that block and on Ellis as well, well actually all the way towards Stony, even had some living in China Town. And HP is cool, expensive tho, but they have livend it up some, re-opened the theater and put a hotel over there.

yup...it's like 2 blocks from the hospital....great location for interns who have to do on-calls and overnights....

Hyde Park is cool though....only part I don't like about living here is that it's at least an hour travel everyday b/c all the clinics i'm assigned to work at are on the northside just west of Lakeview and Wicker Park, around Divison/Diversey/Belmont type areas...other than that, i'd rather be on the southside than the northside.....

plus, living next to UofC has its benefits. More security, a lot of young people, libraries, and research and volunteer opportunities at the UofC hospital...

Anyone want a friendly wager on the number of homicides that will occur in Chicago for May 2014?

I actually did a little work on this I am estimating: 43

I want to say 45 very badly but I am going to stick with my calculated estimate that factors in for every 1 degree F rise in the Temp, X homicides will occur.

I checked the forecast for May 2014 and it looks extremely pleasant and nice but if we were to get severe weather, that could have a dampening effect on my estimate.

How is that theater in HP? my favorite theater is the one on Roosevelt

haven't been yet. from the outside, it looks really small though. I've heard good things about the Roosevelt one. Someone told me it might be the only digital theatre in the city.

Man that's cool they reopen that movie theatre back up in Hyde Park. My Grandma took me, my brother and cousin to see Malcolm X. We saw Sprung for my 8th grade graduation. One of the Worst movies ever lol.. Shout Out to Mello Yellow!!!

HP Theater is small but it's cool, me and my daughter saw "Divergent" there a few weeks ago. It used to be bigger but they switched it around up in there. But it's just the size of the regular neighborhood theaters they had back in the day like the Jeffery or Hamilton. The bank on 71st & Jeffery used to be a movie theater and those stores on 71st and Paxton too.
