This thread is retarded. Nicki is from NY and is bar for bar better than any of those nobody ass west coast niggas you named. This thread has already been shut down with the mention of nikki and wiz. One has the number one album while the other has the number one song. Let me know when any new west coast rap even cracks the top 50..

Yea Nicki is the next Jay, Nas and Big?

and MC Hammer was seen as part of the westcoast movement during the 90's?

Gimmick rappers/pop stars come and go..

there is NO young movement over on the east-coast right now...during the early 00's you had dipset, niggas were talking Juelz, you had Freeway, Beans, Jada, Styles, D Block, Cas, Fab etc....the future looked bright....now alll them boys are old, where is the next bunch of niggas? you here mention one pop female singer/rapper and a westcoast gimmick sounding rapper, who everyone thinks is from cali lmao come on son,,, that aint no movement,,

i brought up DRE because these young niggas are working with him, he feels they have something for him to spend time in the studio with them. Is Dre making songs with French Montana...?

Ortiz is nice, but he just doesnt have that star factor, the Slaughter House thing is the best way forwards for him and those other dudes...What they all have him common is failed solo careers, but as a unit they stronger.....

There is no movement on the eastcoast, everyone hating on one another, there is no unity, the next generation is done for....Look at how Fat Joe was hating on French Montana..there is no respect, niggas on some fake gangsta shit and aint about the music anymore

And niggas can be on Jays level, if they make good music and have talent....

yada yada yada....what about nipsey hustle and jay rock is star quality? them cats remind me of snoop in 93 and its almost 20 years later....like i said next time put young talent in the title of ya thread......as long as the cats that i listen to are still making good music i could care less about what you're talking about....not looking for the next nas...nas is still on the scene

Most of the young cats in NY dont get shine because its hard as hell. For a nigga to get love from his city he has to be BETTER than Jay-z, Nas, Pun znd Big COMBINED. And we all know thats not gonna happen. Also the basis of gettin resppect from ur block or hood or what ever is u gonna have to battle EVERYBODY. NY hasnt lost the essence of Hip Hop because all the greats had to do the same shit.... But the difference is that they didnt get stuck in battle rapper mode so they were accepted outside of NY.... Also the NY sound was more prevelant in the mainstream back then so they didnt have to be other than themself to get love. NOWA DAYS thats not how it is so its a struggle.... I should make a documentary of this shit....

that here is a problem fosure, the bar is set way to high off the gate,

good post

they have talent, but it's not only them there is an actual movement over on the westcoast goin on, niggas working together, westcoast legends working with these young niggas...we are not talking just 2 rappers, we are talking a dozen

this aint happening over on the eastcoast, there is no movement, there is no sound, its a bunch of niggas acting hood and hating on each other.....

in the early 00's yall had so much damn talent, there was so much that there wasnt room for everyone....

Lets put it this way, those west niggas you named have no star power. How long have you niggas been saying Nipsey gonna blow? Yet, he's still a nobody to people outside ya'll region. Plus the nigga is barely an average rapper. You say the east has no movement, but the west does? How? What new artist moves units over there? Matter a fact, let me get a release date for any of those niggas you named. J.Cole got a bigger buzz than any of them. Homie opened up for one of the biggest hip hop shows last year. Then was featured on a song by one of the biggest artist in rap. What are these young west niggas doing? Matter a fact, what is the west doing period? Ya'll biggest star, dre, dropped dud after dud, and eventually had to run to the whiteboy to get a successful song. If anyone shouldn't be commenting on a certain areas decline in relevance, it should be the west. Ya'll don't even exist in rap anymore.....

Wiz Khalifa------Platinum selling "Black and Yellow" single
Nikki Minaj-------Platinum selling "Pink Friday" album
Cory Gunz-------Young Money artist waiting his turn
Wale-------------Ross/Hov artist, he'll be alright
Diggy Simmons-----Atlantic records artist w/ Lupe and Pharrel's cosign.
Mac Miller-----------XXL freshman class of 2011
Meek Mill-----------XXL freshman class of 2011

Hip Hop on tha east coast isn't dead, they're just under reconstruction and they still have new platinum selling artist right now.

thats 7 people you mention, Meek Mill, Mac Miller i wouldnt even count yet, them XXL lists have been gettin wack and wacker each year.....Lil B got more buzz than 4 of them niggas on the list....

lets compare to the early 00's the eastcoast is dead....

Soon as you mentioned Diggy Simmons thats when u were scarping the bottom of the barrel, he has another 5 years to wait

like i said there is no unity, no real movement goin on with the next generation, just a bunch of random entities scattered around....

I'm not saying those west niggas will go on to be Pac, Cube, Dre or Snoop

but its obvious to ones eye that there is a movement goin on, a young movement, there is unity, niggas thinking out side of the box, which is always good. These niggas will get a chance to prove themselves....Which duds did DRE drop? was this the same whiteboy Dre put on and made hits for? same Dre who laid down classics for 50cent?

Dre been in the game before you was born lil nigga, and he's still relevant in 2011...

in fact there hasn't been unity in NY rap since 1994-2000, it's all been downhill since those three rappers died.

lol, okay but Jay Rock and Nipsey Hussle are both on the 2010 freshman class list. 5 out of those 7 artist I mentioned has more buzz than any of the West Coast artist you mentioned besides Lil B.

Diggy Simmons got another 5 years? He signed to Atlantic Records, them crackaz not goin wait 5 years to release his album.

East Coast got 2 artist that has eitha a single or album that went platinum. That's 2 more artist than the West Coast have. Lil B does have a buzz going on right now comming from the West Coast but that's hit. The average rap fan can not name one Nipsey Hussle or Jay Rock song. Not one but they know Cory Gunz from the Wayne single. They know who Wale is from Roc Nation. And they know Diggy Simmons.

fam them lists dont say anything to me....theyve become a joke...

Corey Gunz been in the game forever, look how long it has taken him to get in that position....

the niggas i mentioned been in the game for not 2 seconds, and are steaming rolling ahead

diggy simmons is the next eastcoast movement? come on son, thats like saying Mc Hammer was a westcoast savior

you have lil kiddy pop stars then you have raw talent.....

Lil B is trash, but that nigga came up on his own, no hand outs.....Nipsey Hussle has had so many damn big major deals thrown at him, the kid knows what he's doing, Kendrick Lamar working with Dre right now, and is J Coles favorite new rapper, Jay Rock also working with Dre....these are just a handful of niggas, granted they dont have as much buzz as some of the niggas u mentioned, but the difference being there's an actual movement goin on unlike on the east...

So you can compare somebody to a legend to make your case, the say "I'm not saying those west niggas will go on to be Pac, Cube, Dre or Snoop". Come on. Here's the bottom line, you can have unity and all that other bullshit. However, until your cause expands outside of your area, you are not considered a hip hop movement. These young west coast rappers are still considered nobodies by the average consumers standards. Lastly, Dre released a number of songs related to Detox. The only one that was a real hit, feat. eminem. Yes he has put in work and helped propel eminem to stardom. However, that doesn't somehow alter reality. In reality, em is 3x the star dre is at this current moment. It also would be far-fetched to assume, since eminem is the only rapper still selling damn near 4x platinum, he may just be the reason for the success of dre only successful song (off detox)..

Hip hop has not movements.... And if so whats the name of these movements?

movement = a place in time when you have a bunch of rappers from a region coming up together at the same time, with a certain sound which goes on to catch the essence of that time period

i.e the south in the mid/late 00's

the westcoast in the 90's....

eastcoast in the late 90's and early 00's

one coast always rules, but to do that u have to have a next generation of rappers, not just one or two pop star gimmciks who die out in 6 months
