Regarding the original subject, I don't really look too deep into it. I don't agree with it but I'd be a liar if I said I don't make similar comments.

As far as the struggles of black folks I think we've come a long way. Much of the problems we face these days has more to do with culture and class than race. Not to say that racism does not exist because that shit is alive and well BUT it is not institutionalized. The playing field isn't equal but the opportunities are there waiting to be exploited.

You are sadly mistaken .. Niggas arent getting killed by cops harassed.. followed around stores , denied loans.. because they have their income in dollars tatted across their foreheads.. Institutional racism is so prevalent and apparent.. i guess its become expected.. but no institutionalized racism. Its not as caustic and firey as it was before but it is ever present.. Now this doesnt give one license to curl up and die but it is very much there.. This threads bout to blow with that one..

Those aren't cases of institutional racism. Maybe you define it different than I do. Racism is always gonna be around as long as we in the minority. There will always be racists but to say institutional racism is prevalent, i can't agree. At one point in time in this country segregation was constitutional.You had guards standing in front of schools blocking doors and shit. That was the reality of things back then. Although race is still a hot issue I can't say that is the reality today. Although your average highschool cafteria or borough remains segregated, it isn't by law. The closest thing I can say that resembles constitutional racism lately is that Immigration shit they were trying to pass in Arizona, and see how far that went. You can't put the cat back in the bag.

Institutional racism is not soley based on written laws/rules. It the ideas the undercurrent of inequality and suggestion.

Most people who always got that "White people do this...Black people don't do that" mentality haven't grown up around other races or spend the majority of their time only around Black folks. Leave the hood, travel the world, spend time around other races. And that mindset will go out the door.

it work both ways.. People like me are tired of people acting like all the good people live in the burbs and all the evil people live in the hood. I was born and raised in the hood & I went thru a lot of things in the streets, and some people expect for ppl to switch up and pretend they are better than the hood because they start getting money, or education or get a record deal. You got alot of fakes , who live in the burbs that just live around money, but they don't have as much money as people in the hood, but they think they are better because they are in the burbs. (thats a fake mentality.)

so what makes me upset is the way some black people act like they got to mimick the lifestyles of different races, to be accepted. Some act like they can't keep it black because it's so beneath them. (when they are black)...it's just fake to be that way. Thinking you better than black when you are black, thinking you better than the hood when you are from it. It's called phoney...Not everyone in the hood is a low life. (the hood is just the black community with a crime rate)..the hood can be in the city or the burbs..yet people act like all the evils live in one place (when they do not)..people like to use shit against people to feel better than.. and thats, (fake)

let me do another break down. Some people (like myself) come from situations and neighborhoods that people look down upon. & we don't like when we go thru so much, but yet when we approve or defeat a curse, people come against you as if you never been thru nothing. In other words they want u to pretend you don't come from where you come from.. (now you have the acceptance of the whites) so now they expect you to "act white", and look down on the person that is in the same shoe u once were in. so we say "keep it real"

some people imitate this real mentality, and overdo it, and these people are the ones that make it look like being hood is some "clown shit"....the reason why people keep it hood, is because we are saying we are not going to look down on the hood for white acceptance..(when we are from the hood)...the imitation, make it look ignorant, and represent the stero types...not the real.

like I come from baltimore city, and people want me to pretend that I am from somewherelse, thats why I keep repping where Iam from....it's people from baltimore that turned their back against the city because they can blend in somewherelse, and they pretend they are not from baltimore because they become ashamed of what ppl say about the city..
