anecdotes and personal observation are not good enough to back up the claims you so often make.
there is a side of my family that is working poor...
there is a side that is affluent...
the difference between them is not "hard work"...
it is a combination of things...
when you say "black folks oppress themselves", that is simplistic and cannot be backed up by anything other than your interpretation of the people you come in contact with...
let me ask you this:
how are you defining oppression?
i'm defining opression as in a force or something that has the control or ability to hold a person back from what they truly want to do....
like if my child wants to go outside and play, and i'm the parent in authority, and i prevent them from going outside.... my child can truly say i am oppressing them...of course this is in a smaller scale.. but in the claim of widespread operession of an entire race.
black people feel that we are an oppressed race, that something is holding us back from going where they want to go, and it is my beleif that the only thing that is holding us back is the beleif that we are being held back....we are oppressing ourselves with the mindest that someone else is in control and is not allowingus to succeed...
we feel like someone else is to blame for our current condition, we refuse to look at ourselves,
and we constantly look for an external solution for an internal problem.....
there are far too many examples of blacks who over came this "oppression" for it to considered a legtimate excuse any longer...
no one wil ever deny that things are fucking difficult for a black youth gowing up in poverty....however once they let their condidition consume them, they can't blame their enviorment..because like i said far too many achived more with less...
how many great people in this country were born slaves?
like not mental slaves like niggaz today..i'm talk sho nuff....nigga you gotta go to work today, and you ain't getting paid, and ain't shit u can say about it, and we know you ain't even hit puberty yet slave....
i just aint buying it no more....
