smh

i was jus sayin the same thing a few weeks ago

i told my brother

"im afraid the hip hop market is about to crash right as i have invested in it"

then he told me

"you aint the only person i have heard say that. but the truth is bro,the game is about to change, not crash. folks wanna hear something different. and whoever keeps it up and believes in himself is gonna make it"

i dont really look for djs anymore i really only check out mixtapes by one rapper or group. Most djs are too busy trying to put their man on instead of putting on some hot tracks plus i can get most of the songs on the mixtape without the dj on it

Fashawn just dropped a great mixtape:

XXL is proud to present the Fresno, CA native’s new project…

It’s time for your ears to soak up some knowledge. XXLMag.com, in association with hotnewhiphop.com is proud to present Fashawn’s new mixtape, Higher Learning 2. [Download Now]

The disc, hosted by DJ Ill Will and DJ Rockstar, features 22 tracks with appearances by GLC, Tony Williams of G.O.O.D. Music, Gilbere Forte’ and fellow XXL Freshman alum J. Cole, who spits on two tracks and contributed three beats for the project.

Asked how he linked up with the Roc Nation signee, Fash told XXL: “I met J. Cole in New York about a year ago, maybe a month prior to [the XXL Freshman shoot]. I was working with The Roots, we were rocking up in NYC, and we went straight to the studio with J. Cole. We just vibed man…I’m just a cool cat and I like to vibe with people and if that goes well then let’s get to the music.

Fash begins his Higher Learning Tour today with Evidence and Curt@!n$. Kicking off in Santa Barbara, CA, the trek will continue to make 17 more stops throughout the West Coast. [View a full schedule of tour dates here.] —XXL Staff

Was feeling Grizzly City Vol. 3 from last year and Ode to Illmatic (somewhat), so I'm looking forward to hearing this, anyone checked it yet? I'll be back with my thoughts, most definitely my favourite emcee of 2009.

Thread is in the essence, but sometimes, it's better to search out a great mixtape than to bash the ones that you've already heard.

Before this, you have Kendrick Lamar's two great mixtapes/EP's in O.D and The Kendrick Lamar EP.

Rappers started wanting to make "album" money off mix-tapes.

Greed ruined it.
