Also interview with Monolith from TechRadar with some Scorpio talk.
http://www.techradar.com/news/middle...roject-scorpio

Allen describes Monolith and Microsoft's working relationship as "fantastic" – both are based in Seattle, for starters – but what about the actual Project Scorpio hardware?

"So far, we really like it," Allen says. "I don't know how much they've revealed the specs, but it is an upgrade. It's not just sort-of, 'We're going to upgrade some stuff.' There's things you can do with it. So, we're pretty excited to be working with them specifically."

Ive heard a few devs now say that PS4 Pro is a half step, whereas Scorpio is the real deal.

Yeah it came out like 2 days ago, yeah there are microtransactions, but I wont let that stop me from enjoying, its not evolve level microtransactions. Microtransactions are a staple its almost like complaining about having to get an oil change at this point.

Lmao this game is amazing. I just had the most intense epic encounter with an NPC i've ever had in a video game. Let me tell you about this asshole "Gund the Block". Warning, long read in spoiler.

My first encounter with Gund, I was actually fighting with another captain and he ambushed me. And by ambush, it's not like the old game where it just randomly cuts to a scene... this guy straight defensive lineman QB sack tackled my character from the blind side, before it finally shows the cutscene as he has you pinned to the ground telling you how bad he's about to wreck your shit.

Gund the Block was one of those captains that carries a shield, and you know with those uruks you're supposed to jump over them and attack from behind. OK. Here's the problem with that.. in this game they have a new mechanic called "enraged", meaning if something in particular happens it "enrages" the captain, pissing them off and basically makes them go super saiyan bat shit on you. His enraged trait is triggered when you jump over him. He instantly spazzes out and launches like 10 entire seconds of non-stop uncounterable attacks you can't do anything but keep dodge rolling until the enrage wears off. He's also immune to executioners, so even if you do get behind him he won't let you finish a combo. So boom, my first encounter with Gund the Block he bodied the fuck out of me lmao, aight cool.

This game also has something called "Blood brothers", meaning Gund had another captain he was particularly close to. So fuck this guy by association, right? I hunt him down and kill him, quick and efficient work it was a clean kill. As most of the uruks run away in fear, there is an archer on the level above me still shooting at me. I climb up there and right before I pressed the button to stealth kill... i get fucking tackled again. Gund the Block. He tells me about how much his blood brother meant to him and i'm going to pay. We were in an extremely tight space so I had no choice but to jump over him, but then didn't have enough space to dodge roll away from his enraged attacks. He kills me again. OK. Let me tell you about this asshole "Gund the Block"... and what he said that made me decide I'm not doing anything else in this game until he dies.

This guy had the audacity to look down at my dead body and proceed to tell me.. that he never even liked his blood brother, and him killing me was just off principle alone. Word? Not only that, but the game did some shit I never seen happen before. The game retitled his name to "Gund the Block Avenger". Oh it's fucking on.

I send a death threat to him and it creates a new death threat mission where you have to kill 10 bodyguards or something before he comes out. So I do that and now I'm fighing Gund and like 30 other uruks when I'm suddenly ambushed by some other irrelevant captain. I kill mr. irrelevant but now I'm low on health so I'm kiting around the fortress for maybe a solid 10 minutes. Then, we had a moment.. it was just me and Gund, alone on an isolated roof top, mano a mano one of us has to die. Since I can't jump over him, I'm waiting until he attacks so I can dodge roll diagonally behind to stun wraith him and slice him up. Here's another new mechanic in this game, if you have success with a tactic against a captain they can adapt to it so it doesn't work again. He adapts to my stun wraith, can't finish him like that any more.. i start using the throwing knife to stagger him, he adapts to that and it wont work either. Gund the Block Avenger is a tank archetype meaning he can take a lot of hits, can't jump over him, can't execute him, is adapting to tactics that are working, and he has an ability that he channels to heal himself all the way back to full if you can't maintain pressure on him and disrupt it. He almost kills me 3 times so I end up running away to get some arrows and now i have a whole fortress of uruks chasing me too. About 20 minutes jumping from rooftop to rooftop, i can't get him alone again i think i lost my window of opporunity. I eventually pull him to where there was a meatbag I dropped that spawned one of those huge Graug beasts. While Gund and the uruks are distracted I'm chipping away at his health with arrows and stealth attacks, finally as he's climbing up the building trying to get me I jump off the tower, spin around and while still mid-air charged up the last arrow I had left, headshot, Gund the Block has been killed. He dropped an epic gear loot.

The amount of satisfaction I got from this encounter alone made the purchase worth it to me. I'm hooked.

I onlymade it past the the prologue, probably wont have much time to play in the near future but cant wait to dig in much more.

I love this game it is everything I loved about Shadow of Mordor(which was everything) and 3x better, plus some extras. They better make another LoTR game like this real shit.

Yea this will keep me going for a while, is the first area all tutorial or something?

Had this same chief fight me around 15 times now. Decapitated him, returned missing an eye, cut him in half returns fully functioning. Cut his limbs off, still fucking returns!!

I've killed legendaries and they haven't returned but this guy just doesn't die lol.

He's adapting every fight and has the cheat death perk starting to piss me off haha.

I've got 3 chief left but also have a duel so I know once I do that more will spawn, have I just gotta do the missions before I can own the territory or what?!?

Won’t be copping due to the loot boxes.

You should probably retire from gaming bro, loot boxes, dlc and season passes are the norm and enhances games when implemented correctly.

Read the loot boxes aren't mandatory at all because most Uruks are walking loot boxes. I guess in buying them you just have a better chance of getting something worthwhile.

I don't have a problem with micro transactions per say as long as it's reasonable.

The shit they're doing with Battlefront 2 is unacceptable imo.

Imma cop, thought the first game was dope. This just seems to add on to everything that made Shadow of Mordor so good.
