Don't think it's just parents, I believe it's people in general that live in this industrialized nation. Our parents and grandparents had to live in hard times. Life was not easy. Today too much comes way to easy which has made most (but not all) of us soft, including the way we raise our children. Go to some parts of the world where people still have to struggle to live and you will see a different story...

The same thing that happened to letting children work to death in mines (Industrial Revolution) or tossing babies (popular medieval sport), the more educated people are and the more advanced a civilization becomes, the more children come to be viewed as people (the same goes for women, ethnic/racial minorities, foreigners and eventually non-human animals, one day).

Yeah.. I was a bad ass little kid then.. Mother wouldn't hesitate for a second.. Should would pop the shit out of me in front everybody. Father.. I had to run from that nigga.. Had chase me all throughout the house.. Had him doing miles and shit.. LMAO.Remember in 4 grade.. I did some shit to the teacher.. I put them bulletin nails.. You the know those nails that you clip papers to the wall? I me and another kid put them in her seat as she was talking to another teacher in the hallway. As she walk in sat back down.. We had evil grin on our faces.. Next thing you know she jump out the chair like rocket launcher.. The whole class laughing their ass off.. She look at.. She knew It was me. So after school.. I notice my mother was in the principal office with the teacher. So she came out. and something was missing on her waist.. Next thing you know.. bam.. I didn't even see the belt.. She whoop my ass in the hallway in front of everybody.. Then we got home..she fuck me up some more.. LMAO.. Can't even imagine.. Had me by my throat/collar shirt.. While the belt was hitting that ass.. My mother was oldschool by the way from south side Chicago..

Parenting is more than just beating the shit outta your kids. Lots of niggas in the clink had parents who used to beat they ass when they fucked up. You gotta instill discipline in your child early and a certain sense of respect. As sense of not just how to act right but why you should act right.

Yeah my son's school tried to pull that he might have ADD shit with my son. Gave him a couple good ass whoopings and they never had a problem with him again.

children also need to be connected with on their level. i agree with huruma, whoopings and corporal punishment are not the answer. really explaining to children why their behaviour is wrong and what you want from them i think goes a lot farther than physical punishment. children should not do things because they understand that it's wrong/inappropriate, not because they fear physical repercussions.

"It takes a village to raise a child". I remember when I was young if I got in trouble, the neighbors would beat my ass, tell my mom, and then I get another ass beating.
