U understand what I'm saying now fam? All around versatile game. It's like canibus(Lupe better all around obviously) but it's an example

he can outrap ANYBODY, blow EVERYONE out the water. He's not sniffing my top 20 because he can't forumlate a song, gets boring, and his albums (cept for mic club) are weak

Okay....I see what you're saying Brodie...

Better overall maybe not...

I always speak on lyrics tho because that's how I judge rappers...but I get what your saying

He deserves to be higher on a GOAT list then...

Jay z

rakim

krs one

nas

common

ice cube

Big daddy Kane

notorious

ghostface

AZ

pun

That's off the top

He's better than everyone on that list besides Nas, Common (arguably), Rakim (arguably).

C/S....He's pretty close to my top 5.

Yeah I don't have him in my all-time list though. He's just one of my favorites. I can't put him in my all time list with just two albums. Lupe is dope without a doubt, but he needs to be doing a whole lot more.

I think were overrating young Lupe just a tad.

Oh yeah btw I forgot to ask you on mos def you liked blackstar better then black on both sides?

B.I.G. had charisma and he rapped with great clarity...and his voice was unique when he dropped. I think those are some reasons people sing his praises, although they don't realize it. The way he presented his words was key.

If you break down the actual subject matter he was being ridiculous in a lot of instances...and obviously he didn't get much of a chance to show growth.

what impact did biggie album have...his death had more of an impact than his albums...he had memorable songs no doubt...but come on yo

What trends...what new styles...explain this generational influence he had on rappers without mentioning his death...stop overating Biggie and take him for what he is

He has influence on Jay Z who copied elements of Biggie's style from flow and delivery, Biggie started the whole "every song on the album is a single" with Life After Death, he perfected the flow that many east coast and some southern, mid west and west coast rappers have used, from Fabolous, Jadakiss, Cam'ron, Luda, LUPE, Kanye, Game etc. His first album help brought attention back to the east coast in the mid 90's.

Now what impact did F&L and the Cool have?

How old are you? The west coast was dominating the music scene when RTD dropped and Biggie brought the spotlight back to the east coast. Life After Death brought back the fun in hiphop and set up The Lox, Mase, and Puff to go on their run. Lupe Fiasco on the other hand music has had nowhere near the impact, dude aint even on the level of artist from his generation (Wayne,Kanye,50,etc). He is a better lyricist by far, but as far as being more complete artist, he comes up short. He is essentially the GZA and AZ of his generation.

I don't think biggie is the GOAT, but he's mastered the all aroud game. And has 2 universally accepted classics.

Pac's mastered it also

Why is Biggie called GOat and not Lupe

answer that

Cause Biggie 2 albums changed Hip Hop and have had more impact and influence than anything Lupe has ever spit. Lupe isn't even the best artist out of his region (Eminem and KanYe West have made better albums). Lupe is dope but sadly he only stands out cause this era of Hip Hop is the weakest since it's exsistence. "Food and Liquor" is the only album that may be called Classic in the future, "The Cool" had to many holes to be a Classic. Overall is he skillful? Yes, GOAT status? LOL. Lupe hasn't made albums better than "ILLmatic, Ready To Die, Me Against the World, Paid in Full etc". From his own region, he has not made an album better than "College Dropout or Late Registraion or Eminem's 1st 2 albums". Lupe is a trendy pick from this era cause again he stands out in a sea of wack artist and albums. Lupe Fiasco would not of survived the 90's era, he would be a mixtape rapper at best.

F&L was a classic. Saying anything else is hating and/or being ignorant. Listen to the album before you judge it.

In that case, Canibus would be goat. lol Lyrics is only one aspect of being a mc!

Canibus is one of the GOATS. Top 5 in my book.

He hasn't done shit to be put ahead of Biggie. What he dropped two albums and a few hits, he hasn't transcended, nor did he set trends, create new styles or influenced a generation of rappers, like Biggie. Now I have respect for Lupe because he is one of the few dope rappers with skills in the mainstream but quit overrating Lupe and just take him for what he is.

Opinion....In my opinion, Biggie didn't do shit to be put ahead of Lupe. All his albums suck, and he raps about stuff he didn't do etc... Quit overrating Biggie and take him for what he is.

You didn't answer the question though what impact did F&L and the Cool have?

So what has Lupe done to be placed ahead of what many would consider a "legend"

What about Biggie

I like Biggie man and I think both his albums are classics. I have to put Biggie in my top ten just because he did have an impact on the rap game. An as an overall artist he had what Lupe doesn't have. Lupe is great and lyrically he kills it but The Cool wasn't all to impressive with me. I feel if Biggie was still around he would of dropped way more dope shit on us either way.

Didn't Lupe pay homage to Biggie on serveral mixtapes songs by immulating his flow? That's influence, that's impact. Nobody reaching on Big's Impact, you are the only on in denial if you don't understand why Big is considered one the Greatest Ever. It's established:

Lupe - But I withstand, I ain't gotten into that

A little B.I.G. in the waist, 2 Pac-ket on the back

Ready To Die > Food and Liquor

Life After Death disc 1 > The Cool

Life After Death disc 2 > The Cool

LOL at Canibus being one of the goats, one of the worst beat selections and songwriters in rap period.Dude aint no artist, or a complete mc.Punchlines alone doesn't make you great because if it did, Fab,Jada,Big L,Cassidy, etc would be legends.
