"When my men bust, you just move with such stamina

Slugs missed ya, I ain't mad at cha (we ain't mad at cha)"

They also threw some jabs at Suge. Definitely wasn't a good idea to freestyle that shit in LA.

Biggie wanted to wait until his album was about to drop. That was a different time than today's instant gratification era.

1. Is this a subliminal toward 2Pac?

2. If so, is it better than Hit Em Up?

According to Wikipedia,

Lil' Cease, Biggie's cousin and a member of Junior M.A.F.I.A. claimed the following in XXL Magazine's April 2003 issue about Long Kiss Goodnight: "That was about ’Pac. He had some shit at the beginning of that though, nobody heard it, on the reel. We had to change it. It was a little too much. I can’t remember what Big said about him, but it was terrible. It couldn’t make it. He didn’t want to do it. He had some fire. But he didn’t want to make it too much. He just wanted to address it and to let nigga know, “I know what’s going on, and I could get wreck if I want to.” Like, “If I really wanted to get on ya niggas, I could.”

Sean Combs, however, denies these claims stating: "Naw, it was just some emcee lyrics. I know people wanna have their imagination, but it was just lyrics. You're hearing it from the horse's mouth. I would tell the truth."[1]

My opinion, I get that Tupac was dead and it would have been foul to diss somebody that was deceased, unfortunately after he recorded it, he was deceased too.

Big had no way of knowing that he would get killed and that would be his final words. If he knew he was gonna die, he would have come harder.

def about pac and hit em up better. ether still the best diss track IMO

watching this vid still makes my skin crawl knowing biggie did this in LA after pac died

Honestly I always thought that freestyle sounds better than the studio version. It sounds perfect over the Hell On Earth beat.

^^^ bahaha i'm surprised no one has a cut of biggie swinging his head from the beginning of that video in their signature

Problem I have with hit Em up is that there is only one part worth mentioning "that's why I fucked your bitch you fat mother fucker" outside of that its just a bunch of lame ass disses from outlawz.

I would pick Long Kiss any day over hit Em up. Subliminal or not. Corny or not for dissing a dead man. Long kiss is the better song in my eyes

I always thought what made hit em up so dope was pac going ham at the end. Its commonplace now, but back then I just remember thinking this nigga not playing he really mad at these dudes.

Big coulda responded on the B side of a single or on and joint he was being featured on. As a matter of fact the slick shit he did respond with by name may have been more of exposing Faith as a thot than a hard Pac diss

Gotta go coolio mean its getting too hot

If Fay have twins she`ll probably have two Pacs

And depending on how he felt about thugs it actually coulda been giving Pac props if he wants his sons to be street smart real niggas so go figure.

But the point is this is the only opportunity he took between the time he got called out and the time Pac died to fight back by name and this all he did?! Too me he bowed out gracefully till the coast was clear. Its like that nigga in the school hallway getting screamed on and wont even look a nigga in the fact....but when enough of your homies and some teachers walk by thats when a nigga get loud knowimg enough people there to hold them back. Biggie is that "hold me back" nigga that wanna fight only when its not possible. But where was that shit a few minutes ago when that nigga got in your face and slapped the book out cha hands and dared you to even flinch and you finna get K`d?

beat is overrated because it's the only RZA/Big collab we ever got. RZA prolly lost 300+ beats in that studio flood that woulda shitted on Long Kiss beat. Believe dat. Smfh.

its just a straight Al Green loop and Marley Marl flipped it harder for Capone n Noreaga. Never liked the cheesy synth strings RZA added on top of it either.

Original version is faster and Big sounds more angry......I prefer that one.

Can't understand how Pac had Bad Boy under so much pressure that they released a subliminal diss song about him after he died and then denied it was about him years later, lmao. Pac won the war on wax.

Back then, u had to walk on thin ice because the beef era aint hit yet.

real niggaz know who be talkin bout who and what.

fans just bob their heads to the beat and chalk it up as a nice song.

Always thought this passage was an interesting passage from 2Pac v Biggie

"Christopher Wallace was hit seven times in his chest. He died minutes later at Cedar-Sinai. The culprits remain free. The theories around that night remain numerous. Dogged reporters chase the truth, not to mention the facts, and may justice be on their side. But what remains unconditionally true: two surreally talented MCs took the violence of words and real-world violence and mingled the two in a way that America had simply not seen. Slated into the more passive, responsive role, The Notorious B.I.G. dealt with the beef the only way he knew how: through feints, swerves, and verbal structures designed to delight and tease. Only when his opponent departed did he learn what his friend and rival had known, and done, the whole time. Tupac spoke directly, sang explicitly. Your words are your weapons. You must use them. Because the world has different weapons."

That's because Diddy added his touches to RZA's OG track..smh. But I agree with you..the original with Cappa was better.

1. He doesn't even sound angry on the track. The demo version sounds like it has more passion.

2. If this was written after Pac passed that's kinda wack.

3. What lines are the ether? Pac is jealous, snorts coke, and lives "shifty." Not feeling it.

4. And yeah, it's obviously about Pac with the "ain't mad at 'cha" line.

5. But Pacs Hit Em Up and numerous other disses > Long Kiss

Truth. And he prolly just added his bullshit so he could get a producer credit and a larger piece of the pie. Especially if he managed to get what he did considered as song-writing.

Imo "hit em up" the greatest diss track ever made in hip hop..long kiss goodnight cool..but hit em was hard n catchy as hell at the same time..great song

I definitely co-sign this, 2pac put more energy into that diss track then any other diss track I've ever heard, till this day. Ether is up there but there's nothing like Hit Em Up, Pac was a total savage on that song
