Kendrick Lamar - "To Pimp a Butterfly"

You know, it would be dope if Kendrick dropped a double album that had different vibes on both. Like if he dropped a GKMC and TPAB all in one for example but managed to have the two albums still connect. That would be dope!

Negus was king in early 1900s. But Kendrick used Negus to show that we are royalty basically

Shit like this is why I talk to you dudes like you are dumb. Which is why these major corporations give your heroes and you shovel the shit down your throat like its sherbert. Negus is pronounced Ne-GOOS for one. For two, WE being royalty based on that is FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE. Notwithstanding the majority of Africans brought over here were from WEST AFRICA- NOT Ethiopia. Even if we were taken from there, the existence of a royal class does not denote that any and every muthafucka from the same area with the same color is royalty too. If everybody was royalty then who the fuck would the royals rule over??? Fucking dummies. This is why you need to be learning from books instead of half-cocked quasi-conscious rappers purposely sent to further confuse your slow asses and steer you away from seeking practical knowledge.

There's always one. That one muhfucka that absolutely refuses to let people enjoy the music without being a fuckin nuisance. You've spoken your peace. We get it. Why waste so much energy on sumin you have no intention of fuckin wit? Why not ignore it until the fanfare dies? Which, in this day, will probably be tomorrow.

Instead we get this frail lookin nigga, whose pretentious ass looks like he just left an elementary poetry slam, posing with his cousins, talkin bout: "Do you know what makes me BLACK?! Never mind my dishwasher's shoes tied too tight, or my Old Navy Tech Vest! My blackness can't be quantified by worldly possessions! Oh no! I'm BLACK because I fall asleep clutching Malcolm's memoirs! *finger snaps*

Foh you ol' high sidin' ass nigga...

Waste so much energy? Nigga the total time it took me to post took about ten minutes out of my day. Sooooo.. "black" is cool as long as its for entertainment purposes and not actually accurate or based on practical reality? Fact remains..nothing I typed is incorrect so you can try to roast all you want but that aint gone change bitch. FOH lame ass nigga...I type what the fuck I want. All that shit you talking is butthurt fanboy fantasy snaps. And corny. If words you read on a forum board affect how you listen to some shit off a forum board then my posts are the least of the problems you will encounter in your weak minded ass life.

Just got my copy from target. As I'm reading the credits dj quik did help produce king kunta, or he is credited because parts of the song is from get naked

Not sure if I know the original but I said it earlier in the thread, it's got Quik written all over it.

I ain't finna let yall turn into another Drake/Sean like circle jerk of staning. If you wanna call this 'album of the year' or any sorts of "classic" you are going to have to provide some fucking evidence. Critical analysis of songs, memorable quotes.

If these walls could talk is,about pussy walls....

1st verse - Pussy Walls

2nd verse - Studio Walls

3re Verse - Prison Walls

Shit like this but more descriptive.

Nah these walls is actually both verses are about pussy but in a metaphor sense. Second verse is more about society walls and how he wanna bring it down. 1st verse is strictly about pussy. 3rd verse is about prison walls.

Explain to me why you think this album is so dope. I don't think Kendrick is wack like Judah argues but I feel you guys heavily overrate him. The abscence of conversation about the themes and lyrical content is telling of the project.

The story so far is it starts with basically powers that be saying Kendrick ain't no king, so king kunta starts, which is basically showing the fame and power he has now with how successful he be be one. He is king. Next song shows how the people close him are affected by the his new power . While he trying to change , they not, they still wanna do hood shit. Then he starts to abuse his power because of resentment. This brings these walls with how he uses his influence to get pussy and to basically fuck the dude's girl who killed his boy back in GKMC. But this drives him crazy because this ain't like him. So that brings us to U which is a song all about Kendrick Lamar and his conscious is talking to himself and just explains how he really ain't shit since he been a star and the burdens he have . With him being depressed he tried to ignore it and pretend it isn't there. He thinks everything is ALRIGHT. But really it's not that's when Lucy comes. Who is really Lucifer. And Lucifer is basically rapping to Kendrick about how is soul is for sale. But he fights off Lucy and that's when he returns home, to AFRICA and Compton. Which is why it's called MOMMA. mother Africa . Then he tries show that he earned his stripes from gaining knowledge . But he still really haven't won against lucy. That's where how much a dollar cost comes in where he basically speaks to God and God tells him how being selfless gets you to heaven and to always help. And that's where complexion comes he notices that all black is beautiful doesn't matter if Ya dark or light. Then we go to blacker the berry where it shows that basically people's that be want us to not fight and also some self hatred issues but it's also about how Kendrick will try to fight but not fight when shit happens like trayvon Martin but basically killing another man over bullshit (gang colors) when we just all black . Then you ain't gotta lie just talks about you don't have to be a fake ass rapper just to be respected. And how being famous sometimes rapper still try to hard to keep it real when in fact they ain't real no more . Basically every rapper just tried to fit in when hey don't have to . And rappers fucking up having these hard images when they ain't hard Cuz the public eats to that. Then I love myself comes in and it's to make us feel good. And how Kendrick overcame all the shit internally . While he performing the shit happens in the crowd and that's why he stops performing to give us the lesson about awareness and of course about negus. Then it comes to mortal man. And that's the album
