i find this entire thread comical at best. jill scott is looking at it from a "im a successful woman who wants a successful black man but most are into white women" approach. i dont usually get too personal on message boards but i am in this case.

i started college and began a serious relationship with my boyfriend. we were both great students but he flat out told me that it would not matter how smart i was he could not make business gains with a black wife. you already know i zero'd his ass after that. we graduate and a couple years later of course i see he married a white woman(not even a pretty one) and had the audacity to assume i wasnt doing much with myself....eventhough i graduated the same time he did. he purposely found me on facebook(i think to gloat) to fill me in on his life and of course prying into mine. telling me about how she's a teacher and he has his own business. the gloating stopped real quick when i started telling him my achievements, now he is bitter as hell that the business her father funded for him is tanking and i am doing better single then they are being married.

so in a situation like mine was i bitter at first? yes for the reason jill scott stated. but when the whole thing came full circle i learned a lesson: we spend too much time on race in the african american community. he was dumb to ever think that, and i was dumb for being bitter.

but i do have a question for those that think black women are the scum of the earth, how many came from households where their black scum of the earth mother raised them alone?

What saddens me is that a young 18 year old who probably has never left North America jumps to conclusions like this. All races do the same thing and put down each other its just that you have not been exposed to it. E.g Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese all shit on each other. Also South Asians like Afghan and Pakistani and Indian people do it as well its not only black men who do it. Try leaving North America and you will see that the world keeps spinning.

I've had black women confront me angrily just for being around a white chick, I don't understand it. Yeah, my bad. I was just about to edit because I didnt address it. I always say that its the parameters we created. We're the ones all materialistic and place so much importance on clothes, and other luxuries that dont say much about the person. We have to dumb ourselves down because our race is dumbed down. If we were to change the things we value, then she will change the things she values.
