Which rapper apart from the upper echelon like Jay Z, nas or even Weezy have been this consistent for close to a decade? Which rapper that came out during the mid '00's has made a lasting impact like Jeezy did?
I can post tracks which kept his name in the mix and satisfied his ever growing fanbase for every year since '05.
I honestly didn't think he'd be around 9 years later still releasing dope music, but I was wrong. A year later he dropped "The Inspiration" which had good singles, but kinda lacked direction and wasn't as good as TM101. In '07 he dropped that album with his USDA click which contained bangers like "White Girl".
USDA - White Girl
In '08 Jeezy came out with "The Recession". Even Obama referenced one of its singles. "Put on" with 'Ye and "My President" were more notable tracks but that whole album was aiight and did relatively well saleswise.
Young Jeezy - Put On
In '09 Jeezy dropped that "Trappin' ain't dead" which was aiight for what it was. It kept the customers satisfied. In spring of '10 Jizzle dropped "Trap or Die 2" which was dope too. You could see he was trying to step it up lyrically and make different type of songs, diversify his subject matter and appeal to a broader fanbase.
In late '11 he dropped "TM103" which did fairly well again. He stepped it up considerably since TM101 while not completely abandoning what made him reach the top in '05 after TOD dropped.
Young Jeezy - Nothing
I think a key to Jeezy's success has been his ability to make anthemic songs. His hookwriting ability combined with his fine sense of picking beats has made him remain at the top for close to a decade now. Jealous rappers have tried to slander his name but nothing they stated has stuck to him or tarnished his brand. He about to drop "Me OK" and from what I heard so far this is promising. I will cop this like I have copped almost all his albums he has put since "TM101".
