So I'll give it a go. They announced La La Land, as white bread a movie as they come, as movie of the year at the Oscars. It was a mistake and the actual movie of the year was Moonlight, an all black casted movie. Hence the name of the song.

The story of the blunder overshadowed the accomplishment of the all black casted movie, proving that even when we win we gon lose.

I think using a black Friends show is a reflection of how blacks are forced to do bullshit whitewashed shit to even get a shot. And even when we do stand out and the art is undeniable (Moonlight) we still don't get the recognition we deserve.

Thank you for explaining that. I never seen Moonlight. I remember the Oscar shit generating buzz though.

The full audio of the song >>> the video with a quarter of the actual audio in it

The skit thing was cool but i remember hearing the song and it's dope concept and to me that was better than this lil skit. Still a dope skit but it built up to 90 seconds of a song instead of what should have been the full song in the video.

I never watched it either. Something about being black and gay living in poverty in the hood. Not my cup of tea, but I was rooting for it because I figured the acting was probably amazing. Mahershala Ali one of my favorite new actors based on House of Cards and Luke Cage.
