Ice Cube may have done some hypocritical moves in his lifetime, but I agree with his messages on Death Certificate, Predator, and Amerikas Most Wanted

He wasn't really a gangsta and I would've addressed racist Korean store owners and white gold diggers a little differently, but I think we could use more rappers with his vision. That's why I'm such a big Killer Mike fan.

To this day people still don't follow his advice on "True to The Game" and "Us"

He even called out black drug dealers, so he wasn't just speaking out against racist whites and asians

I'm gonna pretend to take this thread serious, cuz it's on some real shit...

Cube's views on race are just that... HIS views. Racist, yeah... but there's nothing fake about it. If anything, he kept it real about what he believed. And them songs were coming from a young 20 something year old who thought he knew everything about the world and just shot from the hip. And besides, it's not like there isn't any truth to what he's saying. If you went through the experience of getting profiled at a corner store or being some white girls fling simply because she wanted to "experiment", then you can relate to those songs. Just like some white people can relate to what Em is saying in Foolish Pride, whether they'd admit it or not.

Music is a tool of free speech, and sometimes you gotta pay the price of hearing something you don't like. I'm a believer of loving everyone unconditionally, so I feel a certain way when a group or race gets singled out for whatever reason. Brand Nubian is one of my favorite rap groups, but I get a bit offended every time I hear Punks Jump Up To Get Beat Down and the comments on gays. But I chalk that up to them expressing themselves, and bump it anyway. Most of my favorite rappers are Five Percenters, a religion based on the belief that the white man is evil. But I don't give a shit about that, I don't listen to music to be lectured... I wanna be entertained.

The whole idea of racism is stupid... no one should be singled out because of their race. But hip hop is full of people that battle that shit everyday, so they're just lashing out at the system. Cube put it to you in plain sight, and evidence is shown in Em's Foolish Pride. A fan of both artists, said some dumb shit when they were young, but that's the way America is.
