@irs. If what our minds create is in vain...then both of our posts are just a waist of time. We have, in effect, said nothing. But, we both want them to serve a purpose.

@irs. But, wouldn't the purpose of entertaining the thought be in vain as well? That last part of that post was really to suggest that we do want things to have purpose and meaning. We want people to know we stand for something and that the foundations on which we stand will not crumble; that it will stand the test of time. My thing is...do we have any respect for the things we stand for?

Mmhhmm yup.

My thing is...do we have any respect for the things we stand for?

I would give respect for the things I stand for, and I think others would have respect for things they stand for, which makes sense, I mean why would you stand for something you have no respect for. But I wonder why I would need others to respect what I respect. Their lack of respect doesn't affect my respect because I don't need their respect to respect something. We can respect the being without respecting the beings beliefs, ideas, thoughts, imaginings etc.

We want people to know we stand for something and that the foundations on which we stand will not crumble; that it will stand the test of time.

Why do people desire things to be so solid and unable to crumble?
