Biggest failure for this album besides Sunshine video was not including the In My Lifetime (Remix) which proved so popular on the music video channels it really put enough people on to Jay-Z for Vol. 2 to actually stand a real chance saleswise.

Not enough people knew about that Streets is Watching soundtrack. That and not including Wishing On A Star which was still released as a Vol. 1 era single in foreign countries but including I Know What Girls Like.

I fuck wit sunshine too.Classic album that got 6 mics from real niggas

What I did with ‘[In My Lifetime] Volume One’ was I tried to make records. I had just made ‘Reasonable Doubt’ … it wasn’t successful in music industry terms, it was a cult classic on the streets, but it wasn’t successful in the music business and I tried to blend the two. If you look back on ‘In My Lifetime,’ there were songs on there that were brilliant. I don’t listen to that album because I think I messed it up. It’s so many incredible records on there that I think I missed having two classics in a row [by] trying to get on the radio.

But Jay stans insist Reasonable Doubt was an instant classic.

Lucky Me is perhaps my second most played Jay song.

Weakest song on this album is "I Know What Girls Like"

Sunshine is a good song with a terrible Video which is why it gets hated on so hard.

Imaginary Player was a subliminal Diss toward Mase. Best song on the album

Imaginary Player, Lucky Me and You Must Love Me are that album's trifecta.

Jay got really introspective on "You Must Love Me"....on all 3 verses he drops the struggle with the consequences of morally good or bad decisions:

- selling dope to his Moms

- shooting his brother

- his brother forgiving him and wanting to see him in the hospital

- sending his girl on an out of town mission

When Vibe asked Jay what his personal favorite songs off his catalogue where about a decade ago I remember the majority of them were off this album.
