Dope. I will be catching this. His Black in the Americas series was great. I just hope he doesn't spend too much time talking about Egypt/Kemet and Kush/Nubia. Those are cool, bit they've been done to death.

Don't know where the name Academy Awards came from but the actual Oscar (Ptah) statue origins goes back to Ancient Egypt.

According to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the origins of the name are uncertain, but "a popular story has been that an Academy librarian and eventual executive director, Margaret Herrick, thought it resembled her Uncle Oscar and said so; and that the Academy staff began referring to it as Oscar."
