Folks like you giving us younger heads a bad rep. They get credit because they earned credit. That's what credit is. People like KRS-One and Run DMC don't 'have lyrics' because they come from an era when hip-hop wasn't about complex lines and metaphors, it was simple and straight up. It was about moving the crowd, something rappers like Jay-Z, Nas, and T.I. fail to do. What has Jay really done to pass up KRS-One or Rakim?

Wayne is not goat by any means but he has done more in the rap game than half them niggas who get glorified for the nothingness we know about.... How stupid. Jay-Z and Em wouldn't BE here if it weren't for them. As Hip Hop evolved, rappers built off of the ones who came before them. Everybody takes on the aspects of rapping that they see as being the stronger aspects and leaves behind what they see as being the weaker aspects. It's called evolution. You don't have to fake about what you like or not - but who are you, as a half-assed fan, to declare the pioneers don't deserve credit? It's silly of you.
