Who the hell are you to decide who's opinion matters or not? I was born a few years after 1990 and I have the utmost respect for the old school. Shiiit, I'm even more 'old school' than those who have lived it up.

'82 post.. and id go back a lil further.. id say 87-88.. that should be the cut off..
and each year it goes up.. so next year should be 89-90..

niggas is still kids.. they need a few years to look back and think "what the fuck was i thinkin!?!?" and appreciate the shit they wrote off as whack..
lol @ me sayin Jay was whack and borin.. well he still can be borin at times.. but he's far from whack..
and it took me years to appreciate Pac..

and like u said.. all we had was hip hop.. these kids these days have pop and some mo' shit.. too many distractions and hip hop is diluted because of it..
we got it at a purer form..

Well we weren't there maybe, but it some good music that came out from those eras. We're not allowed to talk about it then? Some good music coming out this era too, but there's always going to be that group of people to feel the need to to talk about the classic shit.... If anything people should be more open to what we produce in this day and age. Respect the past, but look forward to the future

Well, you got a point. Most of the kids my age are complete idiots when it comes to their opinions, but exceptions exist. Stereotyping a whole group wont make you look better, y'know.

That is the magic of music man it captures that essence of that moment so the next generation can see what paved the way for them

and i deeply love both hip hop and the blues just as much as you if not more

C/s thread to a point since I'm a 80s baby but I don't think it's fair though cuz the younger kids aren't getting the chance to experience that real hip hop shit cuz of all the whack radio play and club songs you hear today.

If all you get a chance to hear is Drake, Nikki, Plies,Waka Flaca, Gucci Man, Lil Wayne and others what other opinion on Hip Hop are you suppose to have?? Bottom line is Hip Hop is changing and there's nothing people can do about it.

I'm just glad I was born in the era where Hip Hop was at it's peak, I wonder what type of Hip Hop music my children will be listening to when they are born.

born in 1992

this logic is stupid. you can't help when you were born. your age doesn't affect your ability to appreciate great music
