If you don't support rap music do you have a right to complain about it?

I've been saying this shit for years. It's just like niggas who complain about their environment but do nothing to improve/change it. If your favorite artist sells out and tries to do mainstream shit and you don't buy his albums then you're part of the problem. Since the internet puts so many artists music on display I'm meeting more and more people that are bumping quality artists but I'm not seeing any change in the love they get on bet, radio, etc. I don't REALLY buy albums because I'm happy to shell out 10 dollars to these niggas, shit I could be using that extra 10 to get gas. But if someone makes a quality album and you enjoy the majority of it how can you not support it then "complain about the game"

If you don't support it because you have a negative opinion on its current state then of course you can speak out. I don't have to buy Tim McGraw's album to say its not for me

I've notice over the last few years that a lot of people have a lot of different opinions on the state of rap music. At the same time I've seen a huge amount of people come flat out and say I don't buy music I download it. Is this right? How can you have a respectable opinion and you don't even support what's being put out whether it be good or bad? Do you think artist appreciate these fans who don't support it? Speak on it...

Supporting Hip Hop as a culture or artform and supporting Rap Music as an industry\commodity are two entirely differently things. In any case, I have been listening and purchasing Hip Hop since the 80's so, I know for a fact my opinion is valid although, my last purchase was Distant Relatives and before that, the Ecstatic.

I think the lack of distinguishng between the two is part of the problem. There are so, many ways that people can support Hip Hop. It seems as if, there's enough people who think Hip Hop's survival depends on record sales.

I know what u mean and wasn't really my intent of this thread which is why I changed the title. It would of strayed off to other topics that I'm not entertaining. Strictly music

Yes, a person has a right to complain even if, they do not purchase the Music. If, a person has listened or watched they can formulate an opinion on it.

No you do not have a right to bitch about rap music if you do not actually go out and financially support the music you like.

If you're not running thru Itunes, Best Buy or Specs on Tuesday after checking the net seeing who's dropping and supporting THE ARTIST YOU LIKE, You can't say a motherfucking thing about Hip Hop. You can't talk about why so and so didn't go gold or Platinum nor can you dick ride the artist that does because you're not supporting the artist. To brag about "getting it for free" is corny knowing that these emcee's can get dropped in a mins time. I've been buying music since 12 years old and haven't stopped. Once in a blue you get a dud but it is what it is.

they'll spend 100+ dollars for the latest fashion made by people who dont want blacks wearing it, but spending 10 dollars for their favorite rappers album is a problem.
