Jay Electronica, because he frequently comes to New York to murder their MCs. Yeah thats right, someone not even from the city.

I am gonna go with someone young even though I would agree with the poster who said Mos Def, Raekwon, etc

I like Skyzoo. Here is a rapper who is a purist and has a good philosophy about the music business. He says that he agrees with making money but you have to do it with dope records. And he comes through with dope records. Other than his great album The Salvation (which has great production and no guest appearances) he's had critically acclaimed mixtapes like Cloud 9: the 3 Day High and Corner Store Classics. This guy imo is redefining the essence of hip-hop.

There are FEW that can fuck with Ortiz, but he still has to put in a few more years.

Fabolous will NEVER be considered the King of NY. Ol trickin ass nigga...

Now that I think about it, LL Cool J or KRS-One should be considered the kings since they've been around for the longest and still rapping. Rakim too.

I can respect your opinion bruh, but imo you can't be the king/embassador of your city when niggas outside of it don't even know WHO the fuck you are to begin with.

A king presides of his domain and is the sole representative of it, no questions asked. A king is the dude that, when an average hip-hop joe thinks of a state, he's the FIRST to come to mind. That being said, IMO, the King of New York without Jay-Z or Nas in the equation could easily be 50, Raekwon, DEFINITELY Jadakiss, and maaaybbee even Fabolous. Problem with Fab is he a MAJOR follower, he hops on whatever the status-quo is and runs with it till people start calling him wack and then he moves on to the next big thing.
