Don't wait for a call you better call them no later than a week after you put in the app. Don't expect them to make you a priority especially when other people put apps in just like you did. Call them at least 2 times after you put the app in and let them know how serious you are about getting the job.

Yeah, about that....calling the HR person does not better your chances of getting an interview. Only after you've been to an interview should you call for a status update.

If you do not get a call or an email requesting an interview, it is safe to assume that you were not selected for the initial interview process.

Not entirely true. When people submit apps to me I read them the same day. If they don't call me within 2 weeks of submission I usually move on to the next potential employee. Usually 3/10 people call me within the first week they submit the application

That's biased, and completely illegal...you are pre-judging your applicants, and possibly missing out on the perfect candidate....are you an HR Manager? If so, you are putting your company at risk.

What types of jobs u applying to t/s? It sort of depends on the job type, but never a bad thing to call them just to show that you're interested.

best thing you can do is, change your race on your application to white. I had to do that, and got call backs, mofo's looked sick in the face when I showed up. I got the job. Miami runs by cubans, so ofcourse they mostly look out for their own. Oh I was calling them back to back too*shrugs*

Private or no, what you are doing is called being biased. I speak on this as an HR Manager. To grant an interview based on if the person called to inquiry about the position, with lack of regard to others is a serious offense. Unless you are calling all applicants based on their experience or credentials, anything other than that is foul play.

I'm not being biased. If we are looking for people with certain criteria which we always state on our job postings then we go hire what we are looking for. I'm saying that the people who have what we are looking for almost always call us back within a week of applying. Those that do not meet criteria very rarely call back for inquiries.

Thought about doing that

Hmm...ok. So regardless of if that person calls, or not, should they meet the qualifications, they will get a call back? Is that correct?

Wouldn't that prove the point of my initial statement? Calling does not up your chances of getting a call...either you meet the criteria, or you don't.
