The problem with the west is their one hit wonder dance shit is too universal for niggas to be like "oh shit thats the west and they back!." But when you hear songs like empire state of mind you know that shit is from new york regardless of how cliche or played out a song like that gets. Plus them underground west niggas try to make it to mainstream northeast radio and they fail to do that on a permanent basis. IF the midwest is so poppin why isnt eminem doing big shit for detriot (dude just wrote a letter talking about how hes abbadoned it). Likewise i rarely hear ye shouting out Chi town nearly as much as he did when he started. And I never hear west niggas talking about performing in the staples center...but EVERY artist be talking about selling out the garden.

I rock with the east coast music and I rock with the west coast music. I can't sit here and say any 1 region is irrelevant, but maybe some regions are currently more relevant than others. But to say that midwest music is weak and that the music scene is weak is an idiotic statement. True kanye doesn't scream CHI throughout his lyrics but he's not the end all be all of the music scene here. You got dudes like mikkey halsted, LEP boys, Dave Pracyse, Bo Deal, and host of other artists, and Lupe is holding down with an album that musically, many feel is avg. You got older rappers too like twista and Common but they're holding there own in the game. It's a lot of up and comers here, they just aren't being heard. And Detroit hip-hop is the shit too but to make a comment about the CHI, you need to get your facts straight!
