How big of a record was 'Black Republican by Nas ft. Jay ?

I might be the only one who feel like this, but i felt the beat was over produced. Success is a much better track, it's more minimalist which is what Jay and Nas sound best over.

Hell nah, Success ain't a better track, it is more minimalist which is why they couldn't even ride the beat properly, Jay did get Nas on that tho, giving him a smaller ass verse and obviously being on his favorite kinda of subject matter, which allows him to exercise his 'bragaddocio nature'. Their unability to ride that beat was screeching tho.

This shit was on repeat for like a yr straight

I'm standin' on the roof of my building

I'm feelin' - the whirlwind of beef, I inhale it

them niggas both ripped it

I just think the Black Republican beat isn't all that, it's too epic sounding, the beat overshadowed the mcs.

I marked out. I couldn't wait to hear that shit. Its still one of my favorite joints. Its my favorite of their two tracks together as well. The Godfather beat sample was a good choice, an epic feel for a first time ever collaboration.

Remember the un mastered version? Shit sound even crazier.

Weezy and Juelz version >>>

Na, for the time this record was huge. Nas and Hov on one track was still surreal to a nigga. Maybe cause they're beef is so classic to me.

I don't think the beat was overproduced. As a beat it was dope, and the fact that it was jay-z and nas on a song together for the first time gave it more of a reason to sound epic.

I felt like Jay-Z was slightly better. He always shows out on guest features like this and Watch What You Say To Me.

Nas got him on Success, but I remember quoting that "Let that bitch breathe!" for a few weeks lol

The anticaption for that record was incredible. It felt like back in the 90's when you had to wait for it release at the record store or radio station. No internet or leaks. However it was good but not great. Didn't quite compliment each other like I thought it would. I read somewhere that Jay wanted to go at some more beats together & get some more chemisty but Nas said lets go with it. I think Nas had the better verse but Jay got him on Success.

I thought Nas verse on Success was average which really disappointed me. I think they have in them to make a classic song together. It just hasn't happened yet.
