Here and there maybe a little. Thats not what sells. Its their money and their business what they do with it. but There is info available on what many of them actually do with their money but thats separate from the entertainment aspect pretty much.

Well I know buying gold jewelry isn't a good investment. Because when you're broke you have to basically pawn it so you won't get as much as you paid for it. And gold isn't liquid.*

The best investments are Stocks and Bonds because they're liquid. You can sell them immediately and get whatever the market value is. When you try to sell jewelry you're basically telling the buyer you're broke or else you wouldn't be selling it.

Real Estate is another investment that isn't liquid. You could buy an apartment complex with 10 apartments and try to rent them all out. But if it doesn't work out you can't just sell the complex overnight. It might take a while to sell and by then you're in the red.

* On a side note, gold does appreciate with time. So you can buy gold coins or gold bars but gold jewelry is kind of tacky and a lot of people won't wear it. They think it looks ghetto.

Yeah buying jewelry is looked at as a bad purchase by some (some of em just mad they dont got it though). But relatively speaking its not the worse by any means. If its actually real, there is value in the metal and stones. So its not like completely blowing money or buying something that has no monetary value. I wouldnt recommend it as a priority, but it can be considered an "investment" I guess. On multiple levels. Its pretty much going to be worth less than it costed, but does have value. If somebody wanna be "fly" thats on them.

Do you need to?

I don't recall Jay or Chamillionaire rhyming about investing but they do it.

On the flip if a rapper does rap about it doesn't mean that they are or are going to invest.

Plus if you need a rapper to tell you to be smart w/ your money, you're fucked anyway.

Well I remember back in the late 80s rappers like KRS One, Lakim Shabazz, Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, X Clan and Public Enemy rapped about the importance of knowing African History and how the Whiteman did this, that and the third. There was even talk that African History is the most important thing you need to know because if you don't know your past then you don't know where you're going. Which was cool because I was 14/15 years old at the time and I had never put much thought into Black history or politics and how it effected the community.

In hindsight, African History isn't the most important thing you need to know. One could argue that its more important to know how the stock market works and how to invest your money without using a stockbroker or financial planner because he'll think you're stupid and take ALL of your money and leave you looking stupid.

I don't wanna hear that shit. Rap about how you can take my bitch and how your cologne cost more than my rent.

Thats what I'm saying. Rappers talk about buying the most senseless things, like 22 inch rims or a $5,000 watch.

A rapper will fix up his car before he'll put a downpayment on a house.

Rick Ross has been pretty good at walkin the talk. He's mentioned owning business, buying back the block and investing in comodities such as oil.

His portfolio seems to be diverse and lucrative.
