I always saw the blueprint to jays success exactly how he stated with his verse on "the bounce" which is put out one or two pop songs to get buzz but then fill most of your album more serious content which is very smart. He also was very truthful in his rhymes for the most part. he probably the only rapper where everything he rapped about you saw from day one.

I'd say Lil Wayne OWNS this thread....

From his record label, jumping on singles, The Carter series (even down to the album covers LOLOL), the subliminals, even his approach to battles (his passive aggressiveness - see 50 Cent or Pusha T), he peddles Drake like Jay do Kanye (Drake even bit Ye's style), ripping people off & turning his back on them, nigga is even contemplating retirement a la Jay-Z.

I'd definitely say Hov has some type of influence on Wayne.
