Its funny looking at the songwriter credits from a rap album in the 80s. Back then you didn't have to clear samples.

Nowadays if you look at the songwriter credits they include the artist they sampled from.

When I was five years old I realized there was a road

At the end I will win lots of pots of gold

Never took a break, never made a mistake

Took time to create cos there's money to make

Title Track Is A Timeless Record...I Lost My Mind When I First Heard This...It Was Some Next Level Shit...My Favorite G Rap Joint

Classic album... Its was dope when it was like 1 rapper & 1 DJ... Or a crew and DJ, thinking about it, it seems abit of thing of the past rapping with a DJ who is part of the crew...

Here's a song that came out in 2001. He's rapping about how he's the first person to rap about that life.

First Nigga (DJ Premiere Remix) - Kool G Rap

I always wanted to know this about 1 MC and 1 DJ groups from back in the day (such as Eric B and Rakim, Gangstarr, etc)......how much, if any, did the DJ of those groups help write the lyrics for the MC.....I know the credits would list them both as writers.

I think generally the DJ made the beats and the MC wrote the rhymes. I know thats how Gang Starr made their music.

As far as Eric B and Rakim, I've read in interviews where Rakim said he made some of those beats.

I've heard unconfirmed rumors that DJ Polo didn't really do anything, which is believable because after Kool G Rap went solo you never heard from DJ Polo again.
