Classic speech. As is often the case, I find some of the best truths spoken on an important social topic such as this come from comedy. This time, it's not my go-to guy, George Carlin, but the well known Dave Chappelle. Hilarious commentary on racial differences on ideas of patriotism, and particularly relevant today, considering the growing obsession with the Founding Fathers among some Americans, who consider reverence for the Founders to be the ultimate symbol of patriotism.

Frederick Douglas is very underrated. You check his resume and he'd almost have to be considered GOAT as far as African Americans go. I mean he was pretty much doing all the things that modern black leaders do back when blacks were still property in this country.

- dude taught himself to read and write
- was instrumental in getting Abraham Lincoln to make slavery a war cause, going as far to diss Lincoln to his face in the White House because he didn't free the slaves fast enough
- was instrumental in the creation of Black army regiments like the famous 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry
- gained respect from whites as a great orator, author, and philosopher back when like 98.7% of white people assumed blacks were mentally inferior to whites
