Thanks for the question. The requirements are not really that encompassing. The main one is that you believe in a higher power, no atheist can join a LEGITIMATE Lodge, unless he hides that fact. That's the beauty of Masonry, it brings together men of all walks of life without religious or financial prejudice. You must also be found to be in good character, this is especially important when your petition is presented and voted on. There are also age requirements but they vary from state to state. There are a few other requirements but they aren't as stringently enforced, one that comes to mind is living in the district of which the Lodge you petitioned is located. I'm a 3rd degree Mason which is the highest actual degree. This month I'm actually going to begin the path that will eventually take me to my 32nd.
