Young-Ice;1122813 said:Not at all. Mutlis - and good multis - are hard as fuck. Not forced multi's where you aren't getting what you want across, but multi's that say exactly what you want them to say. example:
They say music can alter moods and talk to you
well can it load gun up for you and cock it too?
we'll if it can then the next time you assault a dude
just tell the judge it was my fault, and I'll get sued
3 syllable rhymes, hit it 5 times in four bars... and got his message across perfectly. That, in my opinion, is just as hard as metaphors and double entendres, if not harder.
garv;1122896 said:Lmao are you really going to compare that with a track like 'Put You On The Game' or 'I Gave You Power' Concept tracks are much harder to pull off, multis is easy for anyone with a half decent vocabulary, which is why i always say i will always value someone who can pull off extended metaphors and double entredres over someone who spits a few multis together.

Young-Ice;1123019 said:he recreated the gorilla's music. I guarentee somewhere in man's history there is a similar metaphor to Kick-Push. This is beginning to be annoying. Let's just agree to disagree.

Production was consistently good as well. TES was much of the same, but with even better song writing to add to what MMLP displayed. He also changed the emotion from anger/shock to more personal heartfelt shit. What brings F&L down a notch for me is it could get boring at times. And lupe doesn't show enough emotion to draw you into a song, he'd rather be subtle and clever and make you think. At the same time, i can see others saying Em's album bored them cuz they didn't care for his personal shit or the shock shit. That's fair too. And TES proved he didn't have to "shock" to display his skills or make a great album.
as far as them as mc's...
For me, It's gonna come down to what you prefer most, introspective rap vs concept rap. From there, you can debate who does each one the best, respectively. I think it's close because i don't think anyone is as introspective as Em(and still make great music), but i also feel that lupe conceptually is on another level from everyone else right now. At the same time, each style can bore you for different reasons, ie, not everyone cares about dudes personal struggles or not everyone cares to decipher metaphors within metaphors. If those are a wash, i go to who's more versatile, and Em wins that. Multi's, song writing, flow, funny wit ,emotion, double entendres, etc. As lyrically dope as lupe is he can be monotonous for me. This hurts him a lot imo because with his talent, he should be more successful and well known.
NothingButTheTruth;1123095 said:Huh? Obviously because he doesn't agree with your biased opinion. Here's my opinion.
Catologue-Eminem has one good album in MMLP. Lupe has one classic album in Food and Liquor, and one good album in The Cool, So Lupe hands down.
Originality-LOL Lupe Fiasco by far. Eminem sounds like Royce Da 5'9 mixed with a little bit of Pharoahe Monch and add Biggie's vulgarity in there. Lupe sounds like Lupe.
Concepts-Lupe
Versatility-Lupe, how is Eminem versatile in the least bit?
Vocabulary-Lupe
Substance-Lupe
Flow-Lupe by far, ever since Eminem came out of his hiatus, he's been forcing the same flow on every beat, see the BET Awards, Forever, No Love etc.
Freestyle-Idk because I don't think Lupe freestyles, so Eminem by default
Vocal Presence-Lupe
Live Performance-LOL like I'm going to go to an Eminem concert...Lupe by default
Poetic Value-Lupe
Body of Work-Same thing as catalogue? Lupe hands down.
Industry Impact-Eminem
Social Impact-Eminem because of white people, they literally idolize this guy, dismissing the fact that he makes white people look pretty bad
Longevity-Eminem by default
Lyrics-Lupe by far
Battle Skills-Idk, Eminem has lost the majority of his (known) battles, see Juice, Rhymefest, Canibus(Can-I-Bitch was self-ether), Mariah Carey, Royce (Em was too scared to answer, and when he did it call himself responding it was wack as hell) etc., but I guess Eminem by default since he actually did battle a few people
Technical skill-Lupe by far, his metaphor game is unmatched
garv;1122778 said:But yh Lupe is better, Metaphors and double entredres take much more thought and practice than Multis.

LifezOriginal;1123119 said:Damn ya'll can get with Em's production. That shit grates on my ears at times. I know that its made to tailor toward Em, but still.. . . . Em has serious multi's, Lupe has metaphors and a very serious rhyme scheme. Dude rhymes 1 2 3 2 4 4 3 like drinking water. Lupe gets it to me.

The subjective nature of Industry Politics has Had Suge and most of the West Coast Blacklisted since pac died and Puffy the Industrys sweetheart. Most of you Youngster opinions are based off of the Lemming groupie mentality and have been indoctrinated by the Droning Affects of Clear channel and Viacom who have pushed certain artists and agendas since that same time frame. Maybe it is because I have grown through the History of HipHop and have been around the indutry through self friends and family since the 80's that I have a broader scope, but in the end it is still all a matter of individual perspective versus Pop Cultures brainwashing...

I think he's a great emcee who needs to put out more material(Im waiting for lasers). But IMO and every hip hop "fan" and even "head" I've ever scene em is higher them Lupe on a GOAT. Lupe has a chance to surpass him someday(not if he retire after lasers)
