Erykah Badu’s video for Window Seat is pure genius. Not because she’s thicker than $75 worth of lunch meat, as one fan tweets, but rather because she has forced people to not just look at, but stare at a bigger picture. A picture of groupthink. Earlier today, Tuesday March 30th, 2010, I spoke with Matt from Matt and Kim who inspired Erykah’s video with their video for Lessons Learned.
When I asked Matt how he felt about such a big named star remaking his video told me about a bigger picture. A picture one can only understand via Erykah Badu’s video. Matt says “She’s an artist that I respect and like and before she made the video I got a call from her and we talked about it for a little bit. We talked about the bigger picture she saw of this to expand out to be like… for more people to try this.”
