Depends where its being bitten from. If I know the reference or the rapper is cool with the rapper being bitten it doesnt bother me.

Well Jay Z and Lil Wayne are the kings of doin this

in most cases, its the listeners fault for not knowing their history

I mean .. how do you try to play them off as your own, tho?

Once its bit, its bit ..

Beans bit a whole two bars off Biggie. "Look what you made me do, brains blew, my team in the marine blue" etc.

I'm a big fan of the Dynasty album, and i thought that line was hard as shit for Bennie.. It sucks its not his .. it kinda dampers the verse.

^^^ Thats your fault for not knowing the reference. BIG has 2 albums. Go listen to them.

Huh? What that gotta do with anything? You cant throw the 3rd party listener into this.

We should be confident that our artist are being artist.

Life After Death sold 10 million copies before u decided to listen. so i'd say Long Kiss Goodnight was pretty popular before u went back and realized it. Glad u did tho dont get me wrong
other lines like "when the remy's in the system" "them rings and things u sing about" etc
U cant be too caught in the 'Now'

That is the difference between age groups........these kids wasnt allowed to listen rap music at that time....

Y'all not getting the threadstarters point. It doesn't matter if you caught the bitten rhyme the first time you heard it or 10 years later....it's still fuckin bitten and biting rhymes is wack as fuck.

Sometimes rappers mimic a line to pay homage(which should be made clear by the artist if that's the case) but most of time rappers try to pass bitten lines as their own. It is usually rappers who have a younger fan base. They play into the fact that their listeners do not have the hiphop history knowledge to be able to catch them doing it. Rappers need to be called out for doing that shit, I can't stand it. I got biterphobia.

If you dont understand the cultural reason for doin it, or the origins...kick rocks.

How many rappers say 'And ya dont stop'...do you know that shyt started with Kool Herc and his DJ? In the late 70's??

1, 2 and uh..1, 2 yall...and ya dont stop, etc...all that shyt

Nggas aint finna hold ya hand through this lmao Its not biting smh
