A co-sign is simply an established artist pointing his own fanbase in the direction of a new artist. So yeah it does to an extent but if said artist can't stay above water i.e. Saigon, Memphis Bleek, Tony Yayo, he should just hang it up.

This reminds me of when Raekwon co-signed Rick Ross as a lyricist and all the stans feelings were hurt and trying to twist Rae's words to say something else. There was no way possible one of there true hip hop heads could co-sign a southern nigga that they despised. Then it really hurt their feelings when Rakim was on MTV saying how lyrical Ross is.
