Far as technology and some advances in medicine yes. Now changes and progress as people in society no especially where the black community is concerned.

Hairstyle and clothes? Who the fuck still has an Ice Cube Jheri curl or is rocking those ugly-ass Cuba Gooding, Jr. threads?

I'll agree that some stuff has stayed the same, but hairstyles and clothes are not among of them.

one black face as "president" does not equal the end of racism...

i've never said it did

all i've said is that it used to be impossible for blacks to hold that office

and things have changed for the better

but EVERY TIME i bring it up, blacks immediately assume i'm saying racism ended in 2008

your ilk uses it to overgeneralize the opportunities available to minorities...

"your ilk" is the new "you people"

anyway, in america, a minority can be elected president. highest office in the land. one of the most influential positions on the planet.

somehow this doesn't count for a lot of black people, tho. i think they're just mad because Obama worked hard, went to school, got a degree, and climbed his way to the top.

bruh, hes black and he got elected president in America

a black man can be president here

true or false?

shit's true.

lazy folks in the ghetto and HBCU rhetoricians are scrambling to find ways to say it doesn't matter, but the 21st century is gonna be about black people who work hard succeeding

Besides the obvious, Technology (Internet, Cell Phones, Apps, etc).....it doesn't even feel like that much has changed.

This movie came out 20 years ago....TWENTY YEARS. And that shit....still seems like it could've dropped recently. Hairstyles, Clothing, Music, Slang, Cars, Pop. Culture, all not that far off from 2011. Shit is weird. There's a huge difference between 1951 - 1971 or 1971 - 1991 but....the 90s til now is like barely a blip of change.

There's a huge difference between 1991 and 2011, imo. There doesn't seem to be that much of a difference between the late 90s ('96-'99) and the New Millennium.

You mean, besides the obvious that changed the world to an epic proportion?

And stop posting a queer font, Maalik.

Besides the stuff that has changed, it seems like nothing has changed.

Yall have yall opinions...I respect it.

My point is...if you took a New Yorker from the 90s & popped him down into New York in the 70s, he'd have a major culture shock. Society was different.

If you took a New Yorker from 2011 & dropped him down in Harlem in 1991...round the time "Juice" was filmed, it wouldn't be a huge adjustment period. Slang, clothing style, music, film, tv, politics, urban culture....hasn't changed much. Not as much as it did from the 70s to the 90s.
