powerbombs

once feared because you could break someone's back or bash their heads against the mat, is now a normal move.

I think when the cruiserweights started doing all the "big" moves, it cheapened their affect. Look back at old WCW tapes and watch the CW division go nuts using "big" moves to get over on their opponents.

dont blame the luchadores for wrestling the way lucha libre is supposed to be wrestled

blame the booker for not telling those guys to sell big moves like americans do

i remember what is now the "tap out" was just called "giving up". I think the "tap out" became a household name when Pancreas and the UFC were in their infancy in the early 90s. When Ken Shamrock came to the WWF, that's when dudes started to "tap out" to submissions. Rarely do I hear, "he gives up".

I think the Figure 4 became exclusive to Ric Flair. The WWE has a thing with guys recycling moves made uber famous by a well respected wrestler. I think only Shawn Michaels was the last to be allowed to even chop dudes while in the corner because the crowd would do the 'woooo!!!', and since many people compare HBK to Flair, the WWE allowed him to do it but no one else.

I remember when diving over the top rope to someone on the floor was the shit. Remember how Mike Tenay used to pump up Hector Garza and his Corkscrew Plancha? Now every dude under 6 feet has it in their moveset. It's a real spectacle to see a big man do moves like the 450 Splash or the Phoenix Splash. I think those moves still get 3-counts to this day because they are nice to see and not everyone can do them.

mally g got a point

i member there used to not be tap outs

the ref would come raise your hand and if you drop it three times then that would a "quit"

and also he would ask the wrestler if they give up or quit and they would verbally respond

thats why you still hear refs ask "do you give up" sometimes,
but
even that was ruined by the wwe because of the "i quit" match being popularized as the match where a wrestler must say "i quit"
